The next day, Rachel woke up with a smile, still feeling the magic of the previous night. Her birthday had been perfect, and Felix's thoughtful surprise with the swing had left her feeling truly special. She thought about the butterfly that had landed on her finger and how peaceful everything had felt in the garden, except for the part where she tripped and he held her by her waist, she wasnt feeling akward but kinda flustered.
As she got ready for the day, Rachel couldn't help but replay the moment in her head. Felix had always been such a great friend, but there was something different about last night. It wasn't just the swing or the quiet moment they shared-it was the way he looked at her, the warmth in his voice when he said she deserved something special.
Shaking off the thoughts, Rachel grabbed her phone and saw a message from Felix.
Felix: Morning, Cinderella. Hope you're not too tired from last night. Want to grab coffee later?
Rachel blushed at the nickname and quickly replied.
Rachel: I'm still in the birthday bliss, but coffee sounds perfect! See you at the usual spot?
Felix: You got it. See you soon.
Later that day, Rachel met Felix at their usual café. He was already sitting at their favorite table, looking relaxed as ever. When she walked in, he greeted her with a grin and a warm, "Hey, birthday princess!"
Rachel laughed, sitting down across from him. "You know it's not my birthday anymore, and that im not a princess right?"
Felix shrugged, handing her a coffee he had already ordered. "I think you can milk it for at least another day. Besides, you looked even more beautiful than a princess last night. I mean, who gets a swing with butterflies at their party?"
Rachel blushed a little at the mention of the swing. "I still can't believe you did that. It was beautiful."
Felix leaned back, his eyes twinkling with a hint of something she couldn't quite place. "I'm just glad you liked it. It felt like the perfect way to end your birthday."
They fell into their usual easy conversation, talking about classes, their friends, and everything in between. But every now and then, Rachel caught Felix looking at her in a way that made her heart skip a beat. She couldn't help but wonder if something had shifted between them last night, or if it was all just in her head.
As they finished their coffee, Felix checked his watch and sighed. "I should probably head to the gym. Got to keep up with the guys."
Rachel smiled. "Of course, wouldn't want to fall behind Chris and the crew."
Felix chuckled. "Exactly. But hey, let's hang out again soon. Maybe we can have another swing session in the garden. Minus the butterflies this time."
Rachel laughed, standing up with him. "That sounds great. And Felix?"
"Yeah?" He turned to face her, his expression soft.
"Also minus me tripping and almost falling in the pond. Btw, Thanks again. For everything."
Felix gave her a small smile, his eyes lingering on hers for a moment longer than usual. "Haaahhaha. Your welcome 24/7, Rachel. You know I'm always here."
As they parted ways, Rachel couldn't help but feel like something between them had shifted, even if it was subtle. She didn't know what it meant yet, but she knew one thing for sure-her friendship with Felix was something special, and she wasn't ready to let go of it, no matter where things might be heading.
Since Felix had surprised Rachel with the beautiful swing on her birthday, she felt like her gift of a Louis Vuitton jacket wasn't enough. She wanted to do something more personal, something that would truly surprise him in return. Felix had always been thoughtful with his gifts, and now she wanted to match that energy.
