Where the journey starts

Jenna Potter had left her old life completely, 12 years ago. She and her daughter lived a happy life in a small cottage in Carolina, near a quiet town. No witches, no magic, no evil.

Julie was just like her mother a skilled Metamorpmagus, which meant she could change her appearance whenever she likes to, to whatever she wanted. She had dark blonde hair and bluish-grey eyes. She wasn't very tall for her age, but got the brightest smile from her grandmother, Euphemia Potter. She was a kind soul, the lightning in dark times, she was caring but honest and as brave as one can be.

But one thing that bothered her, was that she didn't know who her father was as she got older. When she would ask Jenna, her mother would only say that he had left the two behind when Julie was small.

It was a Friday night, 19th of March, and, not to forget, Julie's birthday.

That night, Jenna had returned home after a tiring day at work, where she was the secretary of a small company. She had brought a cake for her daughter's birthday, just like every other year. They lived near a small Muggle village, where no one even bothered to believe in magic. That was exactly what Jenna needed for her and her kid, peace and to be left alone. She couldn't handle everything that had happened after the wizarding war, so she forced herself to leave everything behind and to focus on raising Julie on her own.

Julie was homeschooled by her mother, though. Together they learnt Transfiguration, Charms, the kind of potions there are, and even some Muggle studies like Math and English.

The two Potters were calmly watching a muggle show on the couch, after celebrating Julie's birthday. She had gotten a lovely pair of sneakers and a book about magical creatures. "Thanks mom, for today. I really liked the cake too," she smiled up to her mom who stood up.

"You're welcome Jules, sorry I couldn't be here earlier. Couldn't get off at work today." Jenna answered as she walked to the kitchen, her voice sounding more quiet.

Julie proceeded watching the show, letting out a yawn and burying herself in a blanket. Her mother came back with a bowl filled with popcorn, when a knock was heard on the front door. Julie gave her mother a puzzled look, because they weren't used to visitors. Especially not at this hour of the day. Jenna shrugged and went to the door saying, "Stay right here." Julie nodded and waited, a bit impatient, to see who was on the other side of the door.

Jenna opened the door. Her eyes widened at the sight of a woman. And for a split second she felt light headed. "Uh h-hi Minerva," Jenna said in a small voice, throat dry.

"Mom! Who is it?" her daughter yelled. But Jenna didn't respond, she stood frozen on the spot, meanwhile the woman before her smiled at her kindly.
