thalia warren's parents were never quite ordinary, she grew up knowing about spirits, demons and the supernatural evils that lurk in every shadow. when her parents were killed on a particularly violent case, she made it her mission to finish what they'd started.
somewhere along the way she lost her determination and succumbed to the darkness herself. so now she spends her time searching for these evils, bringing them home with her and keeping them there in a sort of hostage—sort of roommate situation.
sometimes there's a few hiccups—like the time she fell in love with a recovering addict vengeful man intent on killing the people who'd killed him. or the time she lost her soul to a demon and gained eternal life, but in the end she's fine—mostly.
and more importantly, her life isn't wasted, she provides a safe space for the blood-thirsty, and keeps the morally good people safe most of the time. there's always collateral damage.
