"I'll say hello and leave if you want me to come. But I don't have anything special to wear." You say simply.

"That's an easy fix, Y/n. I'll find a dress for you, don't you worry."

"Ok. Thank you so much."

"You're welcome, Y/n."

As you walk in the garden later that day, thinking, a servant comes with a note for you. You take it unthinkingly and read it. You don't remember the missive well but only that it told you to meet Kristin in the small reception room off the ballroom at 8 o'clock, and that a dress she found is waiting in your room for you to jump into.

I have plenty of time then. Good.

But the time flies by and before you really start actually thinking again, you are heading down to the reception room in the dress she sent. Already. Wow, time does fly. But you finally come in just a minute or two early.

Kristin greets you. "Y/n! How was your afternoon?"

"Peaceful. I got to walk and think as I haven't in ages."

"That's good."

"Where's Phil?"

"He had to go already, but Tech..." She catches herself and uses his more formal title instead. "...General Technoblade should be here shortly."

You are surprised. "He's coming here?"

"Yes." She smiles. "I just thought you should meet him briefly after I saw you looking at our family portrait."

Before you can answer, General Technoblade himself quietly slips in. Noticing you, he gives a small bow in your direction. You smile, pleased to be noticed. He is virtually unchanged from the portrait. You note, with some surprise. I didn't know that in only 4 years a person could change so little! Perhaps he has a few more scars since that portrait was painted but nothing more.

"I suppose you are Miss Y/n?" He asks, very politely. You hadn't met anyone as polite as him in several years, and you thought his polite attitude was very... refreshing.

You nod. "Yes, I am. It is a pleasure to meet you, General." You say, also trying to be polite as well.

"The pleasure is all mine, I'm sure." He says smiling, a sight you had not expected to see. A short pause ensues and he speaks again. "What brings you here?"

"An invitation I have put off. Well...unintentionally. I met Kristin when I was very young, and I would have visited here before but other matters delayed that till now."

"Shall I see you around the palace?"

"Most likely, yes."

"Well then, I shall be looking forward to that. I must go now; I have other business to attend to at present. Farewell, Miss."

"Farewell."

He bows and exits, shutting the door softly behind him.

"Well?" Kristin says. "What do you think of him??"

"Very polite. To tell the truth, I haven't meet anyone as polite as him in quite literal years."

She nods. "I believe it. Politeness is dying out, especially among the noblemen. Well, I must be heading out to find Phil, but I will see you later hopefully?"

"Perhaps so. We shall see."

"Ok." She swishes through the door and it quietly thumps closed behind her. You leave also, wishing to walk around the ballroom a bit before heading back up to your room for bed. The ballroom still holds absolutely nothing that interests you in the slightest. Well, I guess I'll go and find something else to do now. No point in staying around here any longer.
