Heya, folks. If you can tell by the cover of this book, this was previously the FFXV x SAO book that I was trying to do way back in the day, and then ended up cutting it due to some various reasons. The biggest one being that I wanted to rewrite the story.
That is precisely the case. However, I want to note some things down regarding this book.
The first thing: This book is set to be worked on in 2025, sometime during the mid-Spring or early Summer of next year. Obviously, this plan of mine may change, as do many of my plans for when it comes to writing books. I no longer write on a schedule and I solely write based on whatever I feel like writing on, my mood, and clear set goals on what I want to do regarding my fanfics. Of course, my own personal life and responsibilities I need to handle as an adult factor into this, so depending on how things go in the foreseeable future, things may change or they may not. There are some things in my control, and there are some things not in my control. Just know, the current and predicted plan is to begin working and updating the book during mid-Spring or early Summer of 2025.
Second thing: I am COMPLETELY cutting the SAO idea of things for this fanfic. In all honesty, when working it out in my head and planning it all out, it just wasn't really working at all. The more I tried to actually come up with scenarios and see how it would work, nothing seemed to be coming together, so my decision to cut the SAO idea out of the story is the one I ended up coming down to.
Third thing: This book will be a COMPLETE rewrite of my first iteration of my FFXV book. This time around, I want to expand more on the relationship regarding the MC, which will not be an OC. It will be the same as the first FFXV book, being a M!Reader fic. And of course, certain things will stay the same, the fighting style and appearance being based off of Roy from Fire Emblem. Could it be someone else? Yes, it can, but I've always liked Roy as a character, his appearance overall, and I honestly think he would fit best when it comes in regards as a character to be a part of the FFXV cast in my envisionment for my depiction of the story. There are certain events I wanted to include, like more side quests and other random shit that I didn't include in the first iteration because I was solely focused on just trying to get through the main story.
These three points are the main ones I want to essentially focus on, more so the last one, include more side quests and the other random shenanigans the boys do on their trip, focusing on their relationship as brother in arms and themes of camaraderie. That sort of thing was definitely something I didn't particularly focus on during the first iteration of the story when that whole theme of the four of them being brothers in a sense was one of the most important focal points in the game.
Another thing I would like to address, this book will be most likely a little bit longer because since I now own the "Dawn of the Future" book that Square Enix released, which is supposedly the "true" ending of the game, there will essentially be a "branch of fate". One ending will follow the end of the game whilst the other will follow the end of the book. Will the second ending be a complete one-to-one? Possibly not as I will be adapting and probably changing some of the book's events in order to fit my story. Which comes to my last point.
The main story of Final Fantasy XV is very convoluted, confusing, has many flaws, and is lacking to a degree. I will do my best to improve the game's story slightly for my own fanfic, but I cannot promise that it will be better than the original story.
For the most part, this is the most I can say. If you have any additional questions regarding the story, you are free to leave them, but keep in mind, there will be things I will not reveal so as to not spoil a lot of the plans I have. Until the actual release of the book.
