Just like that, you have been working as a bodyguard for Mr Ortega’s daughter for almost 3 weeks. It was an adjustment at first, but the experience you have gained and routine you adapted to, from your previous gang, made the days blend together. It was as if time had not passed since then. Your year of freedom from your previous gang, gone within a blink of an eye.
It was easier for you to not dwell on your old life and just accept the present. Otherwise, you would not make it. You have grown accustomed to living in the mansion. It was starting to become your second home.
Most nights you would end up eating dinner together with some of the guys, Jenna, and Giselle at the table. Other times Jenna would have business to sort out and Giselle would gladly eat with you instead.
There were rare times that it would only be you and Jenna at the table, but you never spoke. Just ate in silence, which is justified by you two being in other’s faces all day. And when you are off the clock, you do not feel it necessary to continue keeping her company.
You still want to keep a distance. After all these weeks you still do not trust her, but you think she wants you to.
Some days after dinner, you just wanted to watch a good show on TV in the entertainment area. You are not allowed to have social media, so TV is the next best thing.
Other days, you will draw at one of the tables in the garden and other times you will catch Jenna reading under a tree while you draw.
It was a mutual respect of distance kind of thing.
When Jenna had meetings with her father at his house, she would prefer for you stay in the car. It was crucial that the plans they discuss do not reach other ears.
You never questioned her really. She owned you anyway, therefore you just went along with whatever. To think you have never even seen the man aand neither has he seen you.
You would usually sit in the car and listen to music, play games on your phone, or read a bit of what Jenna was reading. She would often leave her current book in the car, and you would be curious enough to see what interested this criminal mind.

After meeting with her father today, Jenna needed you to drive her to her father’s club for another meeting.
You follow close behind Jenna into the elite club. The Front of House male opens the door with a broad smile as usual. “Good afternoon, Miss Ortega.”
"Afternoon. Nice to see you again." She greets in return.
You simply nod and continue your walk.
Jazz music and chatter fills the dim room. Pale yellow lights are only visible against the walls and bright blue lights from the bar ceiling. As she walks further into the club, she waves and greets familiar clients. Jenna has different masks that she wears. This was her professional one, her most used one.
"Hi. You well?” She asks a certain client on her way to her appointment. “Enjoy."
She comes to a stop. You notice her staring at a man in business attire drinking from a glass.
"Is that the guy?” you ask.
"Yes, early as usual." She takes a breath before walking to his lounge area.
While Jenna walks up to the platform, you stand outside of it. Your attention briefly on the man and then back to scanning the crowd.
You have gotten used to blocking out Jenna’s conversations with her appointments. The less you know about her dirty work the better. Other times certain conversations just wind up in your ear.
