ɴᴏᴛ ꜱᴏ ʟᴏɴɢ ago, Ace had woken up in a bedroom he couldn't recognize. Terrified, he spent a considerable amount of time in there, not moving a foot from the bed. When he heard someone knock on the door, he worried he was going to have to defend himself from someone who was potentially stronger and faster than he could only dream of. However, when he heard Min's voice call his name from the other side, he rushed to the door and opened it.
Min broke into a relieved smile when they saw each other. "It is you! At least you're here..."
"Where are we?" he asked.
"I don't know," she admitted. "I don't think I was thinking that much about it. I was, of course, but then I saw the door had your name on it. It was just your first name, but I wanted to know if someone I knew was here, so any thought I had about where we were are now gone."
He could feel his heart pounding against his chest. He put a hand on it in a pathetic attempt to stop it. "Holy shit... Min, did we get fucking kidnapped...?"
Whenever he didn't know something, Min always did. If anyone knew they were safe and weren't kidnapped, it would be her. She could tell him they were okay and simply forgot they had made the trip to Hope's Peak Academy, and he would believe her. He trusted her so much that she could even say they rode on unicorns here, and the magic of fairies were the reason why neither of them remembered anything, and he would argue with anyone who told him she was lying.
She didn't say anything like that, though, because that simply wasn't true.
"Oh, God..." He backed away from the front door until he felt himself hit his bed. He sat on it as he clutched his head. "Fucking Hell... What... What the fuck do we do...?"
"There are more people," she offered. "I saw their names on the front door. Not including us, there are 14 other people. Maybe they know something."
"If we don't know anything, how the fuck would they know something?"
"We can try." She took his hand. "Ace, I know you're scared, but you have to be strong. We're going to find out what happened to us. Then, we're going to figure out how to get out."
How she could be so calm in a situation like this, he didn't know. He followed her, though. He could rely on her in the past, so he could rely on her then.
Their first decision was to explore. They found a medical room where there was an anatomy textbook. When Min took it, he asked, "We just got kidnapped, and you're going to fucking read?"
"I haven't read this yet," she defended. "I've wanted to for a while. It has things I haven't memorized."
"You're the Ultimate Student now, Min. You don't need to study anymore!"
"I have to keep studying if I want to stay as the Ultimate Student."
"We just got kidnapped! What, are we going to stop investigating so just you can read?"
"I am. You can keep investigating if you want to."
"Oh, my God, Min, what does reading a book about the human body do to help us?"
"It helps me calm down."
To each their own, apparently.
Ace decided that if they were going to stop investigating so Min could read her anatomy textbook, they should do it in a place that wasn't the medical room. They found two large doors, and opening them lead to a large room with chairs and a large television screen. No one else was there.
Before she could get too into her anatomy textbook that any and all interruptions would mean facing her wrath, he asked, "How come we haven't seen our kidnappers yet? We haven't seen anyone!"
"We'll probably see them later," she replied without taking her eyes off the pages of her book.
"What if they have weapons? What if we have to fight them?"
"Then we'll fight them."
"Aren't you too weak for that?"
"The chances are that I am. You'll have to fight enough for the both of us."
"Why am I fighting?"
"You asked what would happen if we had to fight them. Jockeys are at least a little strong, aren't they?"
She was right, but it felt terrifying to have to fight other people. Maybe he would, though. They both needed to be safe, and anyone except them could be the person who kidnapped them.
The door opened, and someone came in. Ace would have to defend himself and Min earlier than he thought. With hindsight, it was a task doomed to fail.
