ᴀꜰᴛᴇʀ ᴅɪꜱᴄᴏᴠᴇʀɪɴɢ ᴛʜᴀᴛ they were in a killing game, Ace and Min made the mutual agreement to spend as little time together as they could. Obviously, some time together was fine, but limiting it would be the safer option in a killing game. The fear of something could happen to her because someone realized they could abuse their friendship to get something out of it made him agree, but he wished he didn't.
One of the few times they spoke to each other was when they were in Min's bedroom. They were talking about the killing game and what that could mean for the both of them when Min interrupted Ace by saying, "I'm sorry for telling you to come to Hope's Peak Academy."
That had nothing to do with what they were discussing before, so he asked, "What do you mean?"
"Remember when you got your acceptance letter from Hope's Peak Academy?" she responded. "You didn't want to come here because you didn't want to be the Ultimate Jockey. I convinced you to."
"No, you didn't. I accepted it because you got accepted."
"That still makes it my fault you're in this place."
"Are you seriously feeling guilty about me being in this killing game? How the fuck would you have known this was happening? You didn't start this, so shut up."
"I know, but..." She sighed. "I just...really wanted you to come here with me. So we could go to Hope's Peak Academy together, like you said."
"When did I say that?"
There had been enough times before that Ace knew how Min looked at him when she thought he was being stupid, even with her thick bangs. After a second, her face changed to a more surprised one as she asked, "Wait, are you being serious? You don't remember?"
"What am I supposed to remember?"
"When we were in first grade. You asked me why I never played with you that often, and I told you I was going to become the Ultimate Student. You asked if I would play with you more after I became the Ultimate Student and got upset when I said we probably wouldn't see each other when I did. Then, you decided to become the best at something so we could go to Hope's Peak Academy together and play together all we wanted. You... You actually don't remember that?"
