The Royal Promise

CHAPTER 1

OPHELIA

"Daddy,I want to ride the horse!" I said to my dad,Giles Winston excitedly when I wanted to tag along for a nice patrol of the kingdom with his trusted stallion Xavier who was already had his gear on

My dad playfully rolled his eyes at my excitement before he reluctantly agreed to my enthusiasm
He couldn't resist his six year old daughter charm now,can he?

"Come on,Angel" he said then I went to him with my arms opened wide for him to place me on Xavier gently with him following from behind
He held me in place since I was jumping on Xavier excitedly while he neigh at my enthusiasm

"Daddy let's go!" I said excitedly with my tone high pitched squeal when he pinch my cheek teasingly
"Let's go,hold on!" My dad said before he grab the leash and started to ride Xavier fast passing through the woods while we enjoyed the wind beneath our shoulder

Me on the other hand just love to this with my dad everytime I get the chance,the soft breeze of the morning wind was amazing and fresh
My dad sometimes tease me by poking my sides making me squeal while we ride Xavier

Before we could patrol the kingdom,my dad took me to our secret place,a nice garden near a calm slow lake where my parents met when they were young or I would play in the water with him
The reason we stop here was just make pretty flower crowns for the villagers of the kingdom for fun since everyone deserves a ray of sunshine in their life

My dad got off Xavier first then he picks me up from Xavier, placing me gently on the ground while I was running around the garden loving the sight and the sun beaming under my skin and the flowers were amazing
I immediately went to the flowers picking up every single one of it kinds and headed back to my dad showing it to him

"Can you teach me how to do the crown again?"
I asked my dad with a pout forming on my lips knowing he couldn't resist me since I was a spoiled brat just for him

He sighs deeply since he knew I could do it on my own but he knew I just wanted to spend time with him
Hee sits on the ground and I sat in his lap like I always do then my dad started to create the flower crown for me only with me following him
He explained to me on how to create the flower crown over and over but I'll never listen just because I like to hear him be mad at me

"Do you know why I make these things?"
My dad asked while he looks at me with a smile plastering on his face as he asked me the question

"Is it because...you always do it for mommy?"
I said to him with a smile forming on my face then he kissed my forehead lovingly with ruffling my hair and he nodded his head in response to my answers

"Good Angel"
He said with a lovingly tone in his voice and he finished the flower crown, placing it on my head making me stand up and spin in my little dress he recently bought for me

"You look like a princess"
My dad said,he always tells me I look like a princess even though I'm not from a royal bloodline but I would always giggled at loving statement and I hugged him tight

"I love you daddy..."
I said to him and I wrapped my little arms around his neck burying my face in his shoulder and I felt his arms hugging me back with his armor on my body while he whispered "I love you too angel...I love you so much"

That's when I knew the moment didn't end while it lasted when he had to leave

"I have to go, Angel" my dad said while crouching down to my level looking at me when I had tears staining my cheeks at the moment
He had to leave for war between the kingdoms, leaving me with Grandma Mary while I clutch onto her dress

"Don't go... who's going to read me bedtime story?" I chripped while crying a bit when I kept clutching onto Grandma Mary dress not wanting to let go,then she caressed my hair gently

"Don't be like that, Ophelia he'll be back soon" Mary said,my dad just smiled at the sight of me then he caressed my hair gently then my cheek while grabbing my hand slowly intertwining with his large hands, pulling me for a hug

I just cling to him like a lifeline not wanting to let him go then he kissed my forehead gently whispering loving words to calm me down
"I'll be okay,I promise be a good little one for her" my dad said, hugging me tight for the last time before he lets go of me

I watch him mounted Xavier then he waved me goodbye as I did too feeling sad that he left
And that was the last time I saw him...
He never came back that what the royal guards said then they handed me a storybook that my dad got me, making me cry even more knowing he wasn't here with me

"Daddy...I miss you"I cried while clinging onto the storybook in bed, imagining his voice was here with me and telling me all the jokes he had

My heart ache at the lost of someone I truly dear,he was my all my everything I could rely on
In the end,I had to be strong for him and for myself since I knew daddy wouldn't like it if I was sad in bed

As I grew up without parents, the villagers became my family, their love and support comforting me through the darkest times.

Yes, everything would be okay, for his love would forever guide me through the darkest of nights.
