Rob was lying on his bed after a long night of work. He realized that his phone was dead. He couldn't really remember what he was doing the night before that his phone was completely uncharged. He usually makes sure he charges it before going to bed. He got up and got it charged and headed into the shower. When he got out, he turned it on while getting dressed for the day.
He was in his pants and drying his hair with the towel as he looked at his phone. He realized that he was looking into Jane again. She was associated with a very notorious biotech company and he was trying to look for more information about it. It turns out that the main headquarters of the company was right there in the city he lives in. It's no wonder she was at the club. He sat down on his bed and started reading about the company profile and discovered that Jane was the founder of the company.
The more he read about Jane, the more interesting she got. He knew that she was a bigshot at some point but he never thought of biotechnology or any science field. If he were to make a guess at what she does when they first met, he would have thought she was attached to some famous world-renowned fashion designing company. She always dressed so well and over-the-top especially when they had dinner. She could have even been a celebrity.
Rob checked his schedule and was delighted to know that he had the night off. He started planning on what he could do with the time he had now that he doesn't have to rush to work. He got his shirt on and looked at himself in the mirror. Then, he looked down at his phone. He decided to do some investigating on his own. He wanted to head over to the biotech company Jane works at. It wasn't that far from where he lives and he could discover that part of the city as well as he went.
Rob grabbed his phone and his wallet and keys and headed out the door. He had no idea what to expect but he didn't care. He just wanted to see Jane. He didn't care if she wasn't going to see him. He just wanted to see her again. He stood at the train platform and waited for the train. He was nervous but he was determined to do something about Jane so he stepped onto the train when the door opened and never looked back.
The train ride was bumpy. It was moving in and out of tunnels and after several stops, it was finally Rob's platform. He got out and walked out of the station. He looked around and immediately notices how different the entire surrounding was. It was as though he just stepped into a completely different world. He looked around to see if he was actually in the same city. He could see from afar, the part of the city he came from. It didn't seem that far from the map on his phone but looking at it from where he was standing, it seemed like it was a completely different city.
Rob made his way towards the building he was looking for. He realized that everyone around him was rushing around and constantly looking at their phones or tablets or computers. Were they all working for the same company Jane was working at? He was expecting lab coats and glasses but everyone seemed like regular people who were just disconnected from their surroundings. Rob continued walking and after a few minutes, he came to a huge building. He stood in front of the main entrance and looked up. There must be at least 40 floors up that building.
Rob took a deep breath and made his way into the building and headed for the reception. He wasn't sure what to ask but he just felt like he should just say what ever he was thinking at the time so he approached the desk. There was a woman sitting there. She wore glasses and had an earpiece. She was looking at a few computer screens. She had a tablet and a mobile computer on the desk as well.
Rob: Hi erm......I'm uh looking for someone who works here......
The lady at the desk held a hand up indicating that Rob waited as she was talking to someone on the desk phone. As soon as she hung up. She typed something on the computer and then she looked up at Rob and smiled.
Lady: Hi. How may I help you?
Rob: Hi. I'm looking for someone. Her name is....... (takes out his phone) Corinthia Castellanos...... Does she work here?
Lady: Yes. She does. Do you have an appointment?
Rob: Uh......Not really......
Lady: Miss Castellanos is very busy and you need to make an appointment, sir. I can't help you.
Rob: Ok erm......How do I make an appointment?
Lady: Well, you can leave your contact information here. And please state where you're from and why you'd like to meet her.
Rob: Ok......Erm......How soon will I know I can see her?
Lady: (looking at the computer screen) She'll only be free on Thursday next week. Between 9am and 11:30am.
Rob: Great. Well, I'll take my chances. (writing down his contact information on a piece of paper and hands it to the lady)
The lady took the paper and read it back to Rob to confirm the information he wrote was correct before adding it to Miss Castellanos's calendar. Rob nodded in confirmation and took a deep breath. He decided to look around a little more to see what this biotech company does. The lobby area looked like it was a mix between a very fancy hotel lobby and a high-end private hospital with all the white marble flooring and giant windows on the walls letting in so much sunlight into the whole area. There were some seating areas but there was no café or anywhere Rob could hang around to kill some time.
Rob decided to sit down and pretended to look like he was busy on his phone. He knew that from the looks of it, Jane was not going to be available for coffee or anything in the next couple of days. He'd be lucky if he could even see her anywhere just passing by. After a few minutes of lingering in the lobby, Rob decided to just get going. He knew he didn't belong there. He sighed and stood up and slowly made his way towards the main entrance.
As he was walking away, there was a group of people walking by. It seemed as though they were surrounding and following someone. They were following a woman. It was Jane. Rob stood still and just watched them pass by. Just as he was looking at them, Jane turned to look at him. She immediately recognized him and stopped. Rob was surprised. He was so shocked that he just couldn't move. The most normal thing to do was to smile so he did. Jane told everyone else to back away as she made her way towards him.
Corinthia: Didn't think I'd ever see you here.
Rob: I just happened to be in the area...... (smiles)
Corinthia: (smiles) Right......
Rob wanted to ask if Jane had time or if she wanted to hangout a little bit before he heads back but he remembered just how busy her schedule is that he couldn't bring himself to ask.
Rob: I'm about to leave now. I'll see you around, Miss Castellanos.
Jane froze. He took all the trouble to find her. He even addressed her by her real name.
Corinthia: Wait......
Rob turned to look at her.
Corinthia: Are you......busy now?
Rob smiled.
Rob: Actually, no. I happen to have the night off. Why do you ask?
Jane looked around and checked her phone. She typed something and looked at Rob.
Corinthia: Do you have time for coffee?
Rob laughed.
Rob: That's just the problem. I can't seem to find any coffee shops around here.
Corinthia: That's because you are in the wrong building. Come. I'll show you where it's at.
Rob: (smiles) Lead the way, Miss Castellanos.
