The ghosts were sitting in the office as usual. The sun is still up, but very soon it will disappear and they will be able to begin their work. Which was very important right now. Because a few past days many people were getting nightmares, around the hospital mostly.
River was floating around, bored out of her mind, while Joan was discussing something with Boss, who stood near her in his iconinc pose.
"It feels like something is making those monsters go to that place.. As if pulling them closer.. That's definitely nothing good." - Joan shared her thoughts, gripping her cane tightly, having a displeased look on her face. The wrinkles underlined that a lot.
"It seems so. But what could it be? Sinners aren't known for such stunts. One or two of them usually want to get to the victim or place. Not so much at once." - Boss murmured thoughtfully, lowering his head - "We could learn a thing or two about this, if we watch them-"
"Why not getting rid of them, right away?" - River chained in, floating closer to the pair. - "It's a good chance to make our deathes easier! Besides I'd love to kick some of their asses again!" - She added, smirking cheekily.
"Young lady, no. We can't act before thinking!" - Joan scolded her in her usual granny-like way. Boss stayed silent.
"But this is unproductive!" - The ghost began, only to become silenter, as the small cat-ghost appeared in here, meowing as a greeting. - "Oh, Kitty!" - River grinned, turning to the small ghost. If Kitty is here.. Hayden may also be nearby. And that assumption was right. A few seconds later the little ghost flew into the office. He looks.. Anxious and a bit panicked.
Before anyone could ask what happened, the kid spilled everything out himself.
"Hayden waited for Eugene for a long time, but they didn't come, s-so Hayden asked his cat friends where are they. They said that something bad happened and Hayden immediately went to that place! Now Eugene is in the same place I have been in!" - He spoke hurriedly, actively gesticulating, while doing so.
"What do you mean 'something bad' happened to them.?" - River spoke firstly, her cheeky expression transformed into one of confusion.
"Where is he, sweet pea?" - Joan asked gently, approaching the anxious kid.
"In the hospital! Hayden saw how adults pulled Eugene out of the broken car!" - that last sentence made everyone fall silent again. The tension grew up in instant.
A broken car..? Does it mean that their mortal friend got in a car crash? That definitely IS bad. Very bad.
"Hayden. Stay here, okay? We will check on Eugene and make sure that they are fine. Okay?" - Boss spoke up in a calm and soft voice, patting kid's head and gesturing for the other two to follow him.
"O-okay.. Hayden will stay here.." - Boy nodded, lowering himself onto the desk, looking at the cat ghost, who stayed close to him. As if to calm the kid down.
.....
The trio appeared in an alleyway near the main hospital..
"I can't believe such a thing happened! I hope newbew is alright.." - River spoke up worriedly, although keeping herself together. Boss stayed silent. But the aura around him could tell that the man is tense.
All of them are.
When ghosts got inside, they were greeted with a sight of a clean and light-coloured building. Now where Eugene could be?
"Yes, the kid. They were transported here.." - they heard a voice of a doctor, talking to a nurse quietly, holding a tablet with patient's documents in it. It was quite easy to peek in it and see Eugene's file...
Room number 9.
"Why did they have to put them in ninth room..?" - Joan muttered, not liking the choosen room. But it was all left, since they moved to the needed hospital room..
When they saw Eugene... They were... They were.. Is there even any words to describe how they felt at that moment? The teenager looked so.. Roughed up, softly spoken. Cast on the left leg.. a pair of harnesses, securing the right shoulder.. Many patches around their skin. Oh and their head is also bandaged. Mostly the right part.. Apparently the damage was received here too.
"Oh, Dear Lord.." - River whispered, covering her mouth in shock. - "They look really bad.." - She felt a shudder ran down her spine, before look away, so to not see Eugene's state.
"Poor child.." - Joan sighed, shaking her head slightly. Boss, from his side, slowly approached the unconscious mortal, studying them from behind the fan, that he used to cover his face.
"It seems like.. We aren't going to see him for a long time.." - He began, glancing at his colleagues. - "There's nothing we can do now. So let's hope doctors will manage to help him out.." - These words sounded a bit cold.. But this cannot be denied. They can do nothing, but wait.
......
......
They were surrounded by omnious buildings.. The colours looked like they lost their brightness almost completely, leaving a faint reminder of what they were. And everything looked so dark.. As if all the light had been taken away. What is this place? They were in a taxi.. Listening to music.. And then the sudden pain.. Now they're here...
A low growl suddenly was heard behind them. That means only one thing.. They're not alone in here.
