"It feels like the warm ice is just about to melt
After the long night of winter solstice and New Year, I wandered away"Sieun felt a wave of relief wash over her as she settled into university life, thanks to Yushi and Riku. Meeting them at the start of semester had been a godsend.
Their friendly and casual demeanor put her at ease. Initially, they were all shy, and Sieun's social introversion didn't help, but somehow, they clicked.
As they stood outside the library, Yushi handed her a stack of past assignments. "You may need these too," he said with a smile. Sieun's eyes widened in gratitude as she accepted the papers.
"If you need anything, just message or call us," Riku added, adjusting his earbuds before strapping on his bicycle helmet.
Sieun's curiosity got the better of her. "Do you stay alone?" she asked. Riku shook his head. "I live with my parents." Yushi chimed in, "I live in dorms." Sieun's response was a hesitant
"Oh," unsure how to respond. Yushi's grin filled the awkward silence. "We'll go now," he said, gesturing for Riku to lead the way.
With a final nod, Sieun watched as her new friends pedaled away. Their parting words lingered: "See you tomorrow!" The brief interaction lifted her spirits. "They are cute" she whispered to herself.
Just like that Sieun settled into her favorite spot at the library, surrounded by stacks of books and notes. Her transfer to this university had left her scrambling to catch up on missed topics, and the weight of her responsibilities threatened to overwhelm her.
With a deep sigh, she began to organize her materials, her eyes scanning the syllabus as she tied her hair into a high ponytail.
The library's quiet atmosphere enveloped her, providing a sense of calm amidst the chaos of her thoughts.
As she delved into her studies, the hours ticked by, and Sieun's focus remained unwavering. Her notes began to take shape, and the once-daunting syllabus now seemed manageable.
The library's silence was occasionally broken by the rustling of pages or the soft hum of the air conditioner.
"Osaki Sieun?" a melodious voice interrupted Sieun's studies. She turned around to find a stunning lady of her age smiling warmly at her.
Upon Sieun's nod, the stranger's eyes sparkled. "Oh my god, we finally met!" Jieun exclaimed, her enthusiasm infectious.
Sieun's confusion deepened as Jieun apologized and introduced herself. "I'm Min Jieun, by the way." The name resonated instantly. Shotaro had mentioned Jieun frequently, and Sieun's curiosity piqued.
"Eunseok girlfriend's sister, right?" Sieun asked, trying to sound casual despite her growing interest. Jieun's grin faltered for a moment before she nodded enthusiastically.
Jieun's gaze lingered, as if searching for something. "I've wanted to meet you for ages" she continued. "We have a lot to catch up on." Sieun's mind whirled, wondering what Shotaro had shared with Jieun.
