"How was school?"

Michelle nearly threw her bag at the wall, exhausted.

"It was great," Michelle said, the irony making her mother mute the TV, which was already almost dead silent.

"What's wrong?" Her mum asked, looking up at her from the couch. Michelle took off her shoes and went to the living room, throwing herself on the couch.

"It's this deskmate I have," Michelle said. "She's...angry at me for some reason."

"Aw, don't worry, she will change." Her mum said. "And apart from that?"

"The school itself is nice, the classmates are sweet, but just...she is for some reason... different." Michelle huffed, looking at her hands. "Where did you get those rings anyway, mum?"

"Oh." Her mum let out, looking at hers. "At the shop, saying they contained magnesium, which connects people that wore them."

"Valerie has the same one," Michelle said. "If not the exact one."

"Weird, I don't recall the shop having more than one set." Her mum said. "Maybe it's just a coincidence."

"Yeah, maybe." Michelle sighed, grabbed her bag, and walked upstairs to her room.

"Oh, and dinner is ready in the microwave, I let you warm it up." She heard her mum shout at her before she closed the door to her room.

Really exhausted, she threw herself on her bed, trying to find the remote to her TV blindly, but she succeeded, turning it on, as the news were live.

She stayed like that for a few minutes, until she heard her phone buzz. Taking it out of her pocket, she looked at the notification, confused.

Val3ri3 (valerie.jurrgen) started following you

"WHAT?" Michelle shouted. Did she read it correctly?

Immediately pressing on the notification, the app opened, and the notification was gone.

Weird. Michelle thought. She wasn't against that Valerie shouldn't follow her on social media, but she was confused when she did follow her and suddenly did not.

But the curiosity got the best of her, and she searched Valerie up.

The profile immediately stood out of the emptiness. For someone her level, she expected much more. There was just one photo; her standing in front of a plane, a real, commercial plane. And her profile photo was just a white blob. Her description was also empty, just her age.

For some reason, her finger hovered over the blue follow button. Was she really going to follow her arch-nemesis?

Yes.

The blue button changed into a gray message button, which made her think; what if she began talking to her online? She would've had the night for them to become somewhat friends.

Or...it could result in a simple conversation; Michelle greets her and gets blocked.

Her eyes diverted to her ring finger, where the ring rested. She opened the browser, and typed in;

silver ring magnesium where to buy

The results came up, with each one being weirder and weirder. They all rotated around the same thing; buy magnesium, and fill the ring with it. Michelle knew it wasn't what she was looking for.

ring adapting to finger growing

There were a few results that made sense, but each one mentioned just the ring being made from soft materials, which can be modified easily. Still, it didn't cut it.

mom & daughter connection rings magnesium

Empty.

Literally empty search result came back, which was...strange.

Suddenly, a notification popped up.

Val3ri3: why did you follow me weirdo???

Of course, insult me whenever possible. Michelle thought, pressing on the message.

MichelleTheGreatest: I'm not a weirdo
MichelleTheGreatest: You are

Val3ri3: me? are you fucking stupid or what???

MichelleTheGreatest: Listen, I understand you hate me for some reason
MichelleTheGreatest: But could we at least "tolerate" each other?

There was a bit of silence from Valerie, and she wasn't sure whether that girl was planning on how to murder her the next day, or already coming to her.

Val3ri3: sure
Val3ri3: asshole

MichelleTheGreatest: Wow

She locked her phone, putting it beside her. She rolled around on her bed, looking at the TV, where it was already weather. Standing up, she took off her clothes put on the pajamas she had thrown over her chair, and went back down to warm her dinner up.

For some reason, she wondered if she should've pushed her offering to Valerie more. Maybe even add that she would try to act like her friend. But she was happy with just being tolerated.

"Hey, Michelle?" Her mum gained her attention from the living room.

"Yeah?" "Put some ketchup if you want, but use that opened bottle, that's almost empty." Her mum said as Michelle opened the fridge, taking out the bottle of the ketchup.

"Okay, thanks." She said, splurging everything out on her plate, and mixing it around. Taking her plate, she went back up to her room.

She had in mind to play a movie, but that would depend on what Netflix suggests. So either she watches a movie or puts on music and scrolls through AO3.

Taking the remote in her hand, and also eating a piece of the steaming hot lasagna, she opened Netflix, instantly seeing nothing new from the series she likes to watch or a movie she hasn't already seen.

So Spotify it is. She sighed, putting another piece on her fork. She took her phone to play something, only to find a message.

Val3ri3: from where did you say you got that ring?

MichelleTheGreatest: My mum gave it to me
MichelleTheGreatest: I had it for years

Val3ri3: okay idiot, but from where it was bought?

MichelleTheGreatest: I don't know!
MichelleTheGreatest: From some random store, I think

Val3ri3: okay

Val3ri3: you are kinda tolerable

Michelle didn't know how suddenly her cheeks got red. It was kinda flattering that she said this, although whether she really meant it was unknown to her.

MichelleTheGreatest: Thank you <3

Maybe she can be a crush...
