As I sat in my mum's room, the faint hum of the ceiling fan filled the quiet room. The glow from the laptop illuminated my face as I skimmed through her emails, but my mind was far from the mundane tasks before me. I couldn't shake off the nagging feeling of loneliness that had settled in since Jungkook didn't pick my call.

Just as I was about to click away from yet another email, my phone rang, slicing through the silence like a lifeline. My heart raced when I saw his name light up the screen— it was Jungkook.

It felt like a jolt of electricity coursed through me. I stared at the screen, hesitating for a moment as memories of our last conversation flooded back. I missed the sound of his laughter, the way his voice wrapped around me like a warm blanket, and the way he always seemed to know how to make everything better.

Taking a deep breath, I answered the call, my voice barely above a whisper. “Hello?”

“I’m very sorry butterfly, I was busy with some work, I didn't see your call.” Jungkook replied, his voice smooth yet edged with a hint of uncertainty.

“How was your day?”

“It was good! I was just thinking about you. Are you okay?” I asked him with a concerned filled heart.

“I’m fine, butterfly, how are you?” , he said “Just a long day at work. I wanted to hear your voice.”

“I miss you,” I said to him, more like whispering.

“I missed you very much, butterfly.”

“Hmm.” I hummed smiling.

I was just—” I paused, unsure of how to express the whirlwind of emotions bubbling inside me. “I was just thinking about you.”

“Yeah?” There was a slight chuckle on the other end, the sound sending butterflies fluttering in my stomach. “I’ve missed you too. It’s been too long.”

A warmth spread through my chest as we fell into a rhythm of easy conversation, the tension of the past hours slowly melting away. Each shared laugh felt like a piece of the puzzle returning, slowly mending the distance that had grown between us.

But as we talked, I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was still off. There was an underlying tension in his voice that I couldn’t quite place. I wondered what was on his mind, if he felt it too.

“Are you okay?” I asked, my concern slipping into my tone.

“Yeah, just busy with things—you know how it is,” he replied, but I could hear the hesitation.

As he spoke, I felt the familiar pull of connection mixed with an unspoken fear. I wanted to reach out, to bridge whatever gap had formed between us, but I also feared what might come spilling out if I probed too deeply.
