I hadn't been working for WWE long when I got paired up with the bloodline. It almost felt refreshing to be surrounded by someone who treated me like family.
Ever since the break-up almost three years ago, I had focused on my career and creating a better life for me and my four year old daughter Evie. Although she spent most of her time with her dad and my ex. I still loved being involved in her life whenever I could.
I had just finished up everything for the night when I got a call from an unknown number.
"Hello?" I answer
"Hi is this Callie Smith?"
"Yes,"
"Callie, I'm so sorry to have to tell you this, but we've received a report of abuse regarding your daughter, Evie."
"What?" I ask in horror
"Her father, Grant Thomas has admitted to abusing her for years. Are you able to take full custody of her or should we put her in foster care for the time being?"
"I will take her," I quickly say
"Someone will bring her over in about an hour and will do a house inspection, just as a precaution,"
After getting a few more details, the call ended. I didn't know how I was going to manage my job and being a single mother but I sure as hell wasn't going to give up on either one.
I quickly called my boss Paul and explained the situation to him. Thankfully since he has daughters of his own, he understood and was able to get booked on the flight that I was supposed to leave on tomorrow to go to France for Backlash.
After my conversation with Paul I texted the guys letting telling them that I'd be traveling separately for a while.
Jon: What do you mean you're traveling separately? Tired of us already?
Josh: I thought you liked traveling with us
Callie: I do, but due to some pretty fucked up circumstances my daughter is going to have to travel with me. I don't want her annoying the hell out of you guys.
Sefa: We aren't worried about that Callie. We all have kids so we're used to it
Josh: I didn't even know you had a kid. How old is she?
Jon: whatever is going on you know we've got you. If you wanna talk about it we're here.
Callie: Thanks guys. She's four and I just found out that I'm getting full custody of her because her dad's been abusing her.
Jon: What the fuck. Do I need to kick his ass?
Callie: Don't worry about it Jimmy, she's safe. The caseworker is dropping her off in about 15 minutes.
Sefa: If you need anything let us know.
Callie: I have to go get clothes and everything for her. I was so unprepared for all of this to happen and we leave for backlash tomorrow
Josh: You got this Callie.
Before I could respond I hear a knock on the door. I open it to see Evie standing there with a caseworker.
"Miss Smith I just need to do a quick walk through to make sure that the house is a safe environment,"
"Go ahead," i say
After almost an hour, the caseworker approves of the house and leaves me with Evie. I hug her tightly. "Don't worry Evie, you're safe now,"
