Amber looked at Y/N again, understanding why some citizens looked at him funny. Blood still stained his hands and the edges of his clothes, and Mjolnir, his mighty hammer, gleamed ominously in the sunlight.
Amber noticed the growing tension and felt a tight knot of unease form in her stomach. "We should head straight to the Knights of Favonius headquarters," she muttered quietly, her eyes scanning the crowd. "I'll introduce you to Jean, the Acting Grandmaster. She'll know what to do."
Y/N grunted in response, his eyes lazily drifting over the city as if he wasn't impressed by anything he saw. He hadn't spoken much since they entered Mondstadt, and Amber wasn't sure if that was a good or bad thing.
As they made their way through the city, Amber couldn't help but feel a strange weight in the air. It wasn't just Y/N's presence—though that was part of it—but something deeper, like the calm before a storm. The people sensed it too; the normally bustling streets felt quieter, more cautious.
Y/N glanced down at her, raising an eyebrow. "What's this place known for? Wine, music... anything useful?"
Amber blinked at the sudden question, surprised that he cared to ask. "Uh, Mondstadt is known as the City of Freedom," she answered quickly. "We value peace, the arts, and, yeah, wine too. Our winemaking is famous across Teyvat."
At the mention of wine, Y/N's face perked up slightly. "Wine, huh? Might not be so bad here after all."
Amber gave him a sidelong glance. "You... drink a lot, don't you?"
Y/N grinned, the first hint of amusement she'd seen from him since they met. "Only enough to drown the voices."
She frowned at that, unsure whether he was joking or not. But before she could pry further, the towering structure of the Knights of Favonius headquarters came into view. Amber sighed with relief. Inside those walls, she felt secure. Jean, Lisa, and the others would be able to help deal with whatever Y/N was.
Amber gestured toward the entrance. "Here we are. I'll introduce you to Jean. Just... remember what I said earlier, okay? No starting trouble."
Y/N shrugged. "I'm not here to make trouble, little Outrider. But if trouble finds me, well..."
He didn't need to finish that sentence. Amber nodded, steeling herself before pushing open the large doors of the headquarters. Inside, the building was quieter than usual, the main hall filled with the faint smell of old books and candle wax. A few knights and clerks were moving about, but they all paused when they saw Y/N enter, their eyes widening in shock at his size and bloodied appearance.
Amber cleared her throat, trying to ignore the stares. "Jean should be in her office. Follow me."
As they walked down the hallway, Amber couldn't help but feel the weight of Y/N's presence even more acutely in the confined space of the headquarters. His footsteps echoed ominously, the soft creak of his leather armor barely masking the power he carried.
They stopped in front of a large door, the symbol of the Knights of Favonius etched into the wood. Amber knocked twice, her knuckles rapping against the surface before she opened it.
Inside, Jean sat at her desk, surrounded by paperwork, her expression focused but weary. When she saw Amber, a small smile flickered across her face, but that smile quickly faded as Y/N stepped into the room behind her.
Jean's eyes widened, and she immediately stood, her hand instinctively moving toward the sword on her hip. "Amber," she said cautiously, her gaze never leaving Y/N. "Who is this?"
Amber took a deep breath, stepping forward. "Jean, this is Y/N. He's, um, not from around here."
Jean's eyes narrowed as she studied Y/N. "Clearly."
