I blink a few times and try to get focus of my surroundings. My vision is a little blurry as I look around the room, but after a few seconds things start to become clearer. I'm in a room I don't recognize. Nothing seems familiar. Walls, floors, even the bed I'm lying on, everything is new to me. But beyond this, what was with all those strange dreams?
As I sit up, I notice that my head feels heavy. There are cords running from under the door of this room all the way up to the bed. As I trace the cord with my hand, I realize they are connected to a helmet on my head. What on earth is this?
I take the helmet off and examine it. It feels warm, like it has been running for a while. I look at the logo on the side. Vox tech. Of course. I must have been put in some sort of simulation. I wonder how long. Were they trying to figure out if I'm working with Alastor? I may have accidentally given away more than I planned to. I need to think on my feet. I can probably still fix this.
My ear twitches to the sound of footsteps outside of the room. They're coming. The clicking on the floor sounds like heels, which normally I would associate with Velvette. But they sound like hefty steps, it's Valentino. If it's him leading the way, he'll probably try to surround this space in that fucking pink smoke. It makes my mind too fuzzy to function.
I grab the comforter from the bed and stand a few feet from the door. As I hear the knob turn, I lift the comforter and shake it in the direction of the open door, causing the billowing pink smoke to fly back towards Valentino. I was right!
"What the fuck?!" I hear Valentino say from the doorway, confused as the smoke envelopes the trio. Taking a deep breath, I run out of the room and pass them during their confusion. Now standing behind them and safely away from the dissipating pink smoke, I stand ready for a fight. Angry.
"Did you have fun?" I ask, grabbing their attention as they turn around to see that I'm no longer in the room. I know my eyes are glowing and my canines are on full display. I growl at them. I feel like a feral animal right now. "Did you learn everything you wanted to know?" I ask again. I can tell my voice sounds a little different. A little more demonic. I haven't changed into my demonic form in decades. I don't know if I should now.
"You are working with him." Vox states confidently. He doesn't seem afraid of my display at all. With the wave of his hand more electric cables appear and lunge in my direction.
Vox's attack helps with my decision. In a quick flash of blue foxfire, I unleash my full demon form. Grown in size, more animalistic features, eyes glowing an eerie (e/c) more than normal, and a constant blue glow surrounding my body. I can feel my fox fur standing on edge as I burn the cables with blue fire before they even touch me.
"Your stupid simulation mixed up current situations with past memories." I lie. Not like I really owe them any explanation.
I notice Valentino pointing a gun in my direction. As he shoots, I quickly vanish in blue foxfire and reappear behind him. I aim to swipe him with my claws, but he quickly dodges my attempt.
Velvette throws a bottle of green liquid in my direction. The bottle smashes to pieces on the floor, releasing green gas in my direction. I'm not sure what it is, but I'm positive I don't want to find out.
I try to zip through the gas in blue foxfire again, just like I did earlier with Valentino's smoke. But when I make it to the other side, I feel my body freeze up. My muscles feel like they're spasming, but they also won't do what I want them to do. I fall to the floor, fingers and fox ears twitching uncontrollably. "What the fuck is this?" I ask, obviously uncomfortable.
"Paralyzing agent." Velvette confidently tosses another bottle repeatedly in her hand with her other hand on her hip. "Don't need to be an expert fighter if my opponent can't move." She laughs. She's not wrong. She can be deadly without needing to be in combat.
Vox walks up to me and stops directly in front of my face. I can see his shoes and if I try to look up at him, I can only see his legs. I can't move my head to look up any further. I shrink back to normal from my demonic form due to the paralysis.
"Now. Tell us where Alastor is." Vox sounds angry as he crouches down to look at me. I can't see it, but I can feel that shit eating grin on his face.
"He's in double Hell." I lie with a growl. Vox grabs the front of my shirt and lifts me so that I can look at him directly. My fingers and ears still feel a bit twitchy.
"I'm through with your f-fucking lies, (y/n)." Vox states as he glitches. I can tell he's getting angrier.
I hear a click to my right. I move my eyes and see Valentino with my peripheral vision. It looks like he's pointing one of his guns at my head.
"Whoa. Val. Slow down. We need her alive." Vox sounds concerned. Even he didn't expect this.
"If she wants to stay alive, she'll tell us what we want to know. It's simple." Valentino states. "I'm not a very patient man. I suggest fessing up soon." His voice sounds lower, more threatening.
My mind is racing. I'm trying to figure out my next move. I feel so stuck. I have no cover, no story that they'll believe, and no way to escape. What am I supposed to do at this point? What am I supposed to say?!
Is this it? Have I been defeated?
I won't get to tell him goodbye. I won't get to thank him. For helping me build true friendships, strengthening my powers, and giving me opportunities to test out and expand my own limits.
I'll never get to tell him how much I appreciate him for caring about me. How even though he keeps saying he doesn't feel it, I'm not afraid to say I l-
My thoughts are interrupted when Valentino is suddenly yanked away by his ankle. This makes him shoot his firearm into the air out of surprise. Velvette quickly gets pushed away and thrown against the wall, knocking the wind out of her.
Vox gets hit in the stomach so quickly I can't even tell what's happening. This sudden attack makes Vox loosen his grip on me. Instead of falling to the floor because of the paralysis, I'm pulled back by my waist and farther away from Vox. It's at this moment I finally realize the quick moving blurs have been black tentacles. The same thing that's holding me up and away from the dangerous trio.
"Touching what's mine, Vox?" His staticky voice is such a relief. Though Alastor doesn't sound very happy. I move my eyes to the side and see Alastor, staring Vox down. His angry eyes focused on the TV demon as he gives his next threat.
"You must truly want to die."
