None of this was part of the plan. He wasn't supposed to reveal himself, at least not yet. But here he stands, anger building and keeping me safe in the process. If he's confidently made decisions to have the original plan fall through, does that mean my safety is more important than our plan succeeding?
I wiggle my fingers, still held up by one of Alastor's tentacles and at a distance from the three V's. I feel like I'm slowly getting feeling and control back, but how long will this take? I don't want to be a weakness for him. I want to be his partner in crime, damnit!
Our three opponents are back on their feet, staring Alastor down. They got what they wanted. With how things stand now, Alastor is horribly outnumbered and has me as a distraction. This is not good.
"I knew it." Vox laughs, slight anger in his voice as he clenches his hands into fists, causing them to charge with electricity. "There was no way you were dead." The charge in his hands slowly start encompassing his body. "I knew there was no way she could kill you." As confident as Vox sounds, Alastor looks confused. He glances over at me, the confusion still on his face.
"On the contrary, she's probably one of the few demons who would give me a run for my money." Alastor states, making me confused. I don't know if he's being honest. What is evident is how Alastor's statement is making Vox mad. Vox looks back at me, so I stop wiggling my fingers. I don't want them to know I'm gaining my mobility back. I wonder how long Alastor can stall with this silly conversation.
"Are you kidding? I can give you a run for your money!" Vox yells, focusing back on Alastor.
"Sure." I respond, drawing out the word. I want to shrug, and I feel like I probably could, but I refrain, acting like I'm still fully paralyzed in Alastor's grasp. "Do you really think Alastor would waste his time with you?" I taunt, causing Vox's screen to glitch. It's easy to make him angry. "That would imply you're a challenge." I laugh, earning a growl from Vox.
"Couldn't have said it better myself." Alastor laughs.
"Oh s-shut up, you f-fuck face!" Vox glitches, directing his anger back at Alastor. "You're here now! Doesn't that prove something?!" He manages to get his statement out clearly.
"I'm here for (y/n)." Alastor states to the trio. How nonchalantly he declares it surprises me. "So, I guess, you're not wrong, Vox. It does prove something." Even though the statement is directed to Vox, it sounds like he's almost talking to himself more.
"Vox, get over it! Why are we standing here?" Velvette tries to snap her colleague out of his angered daze.
Alastor looks back over at me. "What do you say? Was this enough stalling?" He asks.
I shrug my shoulders, move my neck side to side and slightly kick my legs. The paralysis out of my system. "Yep! Good to go!" I say in a chipper tone as Alastor finally releases his hold on me and I fall gently to my feet.
"Velvette! The fuck?!" Valentino gestures to me but looks at Velvette, obviously trying to figure out why I'm up and moving.
"I don't know how long this shit lasts! I usually don't need it to have a long-lasting effect!" Velvette argues.
I feel like Alastor and I are on the same page as we both move during Valentino and Velvette's discussion. Alastor is heading straight for Valentino, so I set my sights on Velvette.
I'm not going to make the same mistake twice. The second I see her hand working to materialize a new potion that's what I aim for. I quickly shift back into my full demonic form and use the extended canines to bite into Velvette's wrist. It's not pretty, but it was the quickest move I could make.
Velvette lets out a small yelp and whips her arm to throw me off. I notice that she can't close her fingers on that hand, so I must have severed a nerve. Good. At least no potions from that hand.
At the same time, Valentino is holding four firearms, all aimed at Alastor. To divert his attention, Alastor summons small, large-mouthed demons that all run at Valentino from different directions. Using his four arms, Valentino starts shooting at the small demons, but easily gets overwhelmed by how many there are. Some jump on his legs, arms, and shoulders. With an angry growl, Valentino flaps his wings and pushes all the small demons off his body, but this gives Alastor time to grab Valentino with one of his tentacles and throw him across the room.
"Stupid ugly bitch!" I look away from Alastor and Valentino and back to Velvette as she spouts her insults. The anger is evident on her face as the blood drips to the ground from her wrist. Before I'm able to lunge at her again she materializes another green bottle in her non-dominant hand and throws it in my direction.
I can only assume it's another paralysis drug, but I don't want to find out. I worry if it hits the ground that I'll run into the same problem. I reach for the bottle to catch it, but overestimate as I watch the bottle fly past my hands.
As a last resort, I try to catch the bottle with my tail. I feel the glass hit my tail, so I wrap my tail around it before I lose the grip on it. Before she knows what's coming, I fling the bottle back in her direction, watching it shatter in front of her.
Once the green cloud dissipates, Velvette is laying on the ground completely paralyzed. Perfect!
I look over at Alastor and he has Valentino restrained with one of his tentacles. I'm not sure how exactly he managed to get all four of Valentino's arms behind his back while I was busy with Velvette, but another win.
That just leaves...
I feel the shock start at my feet and move up the rest of my body, causing me to revert back from my full demon form. I catch myself from falling flat on my face with the palms of my hands, trying to catch my breath from the electric shock.
I see Alastor take a step in my direction, only to be blocked off by a much larger electric barrier. The two of us completely separated.
"Neither of you fucking move!" Vox demands. Until I can think of something, I comply. It doesn't seem like he's going to kill me. At least not yet. I notice Alastor also stays in his spot.
Vox pulls out a remote from his pocket. It looks like it has just one button. "I don't know how you got in this tower, Alastor. But I can assure you. Neither of you are getting out of here alive. Once all the employees are under my mind control, they'll tear you both limb from limb!" He laughs.
Once he presses the button, every screen in the tower displays circular blue and red waves. I've seen these before. It's Vox's way of controlling others. As soon as I'm aware that's what the screens are, I look away. Alastor does the same. He must have known as well.
The newest threat will be the incoming hoard of demons who have no place in this fight. Is it right to kill them?
