Net sat at the Scorpion hotel bar, accompanied by Nara, who was there for business and also to keep him company that night. They were together at the bar, with Net appearing lost in thought, staring at a wine glass that had been refilled several times.Nara remained silent beside him, her previous comments unacknowledged by the man. She occasionally shook her head, observing Net’s evident distress. Even when the waiter poured more wine into his glass, Nara stayed quiet, her gaze fixed on him. When Net received a call from someone named Fort, Nara merely watched, unresponsive.
After a moment of conversation with Fort, Net turned his attention to Nara. She offered a small smile in return, finally acknowledging her presence, which he had previously dismissed as inconsequential.
“Nara,” Net called softly, taking a brief pause before continuing, “I... want to quit.”
Nara’s eyes widened in shock as she leaned closer to him, speaking seriously.
“Quit? What do you mean, Net?”
After a deep breath, Net replied, “I want to stop all of this. I want to end the Scorpion business. I want to sever ties with Red Lion and walk away from this life altogether.”
“You’re insane, Net! I swear, you’ve lost your mind. You must be drunk. Don’t talk about this now. Let’s discuss it later when you’re sober!” Nara exclaimed, turning her face away to avoid more conversation. However, Net’s flushed face drew her gaze back to him.
“I’m not drunk, Nara. I’m completely sober,” Net stated firmly.
“You’re not drunk? Then you must be crazy,” Nara concluded.
Net shook his head. “Nara... I just want to live a normal life. Is that wrong?”
Nara sighed. “Has your life not been normal enough? You eat, sleep, work, and live like everyone else. With the wealth and power you have, you can get anything you want. What’s not normal about that?”
“But I’m not happy,” Net said in a low voice.
Nara fell silent, contemplating Net’s words.
“Let it go, Net. Don’t discuss this now. I know you’re not serious. This is just nonsense because you’re in a mess right now. Don’t let my brother find out about your weird desire.”
“I already talked to your brother,” Net said suddenly, making Nara’s eyes widen in surprise.
“What? You spoke with my brother?” she exclaimed.
Net nodded calmly.
“And what did he say?”
“He didn’t even respond; he wouldn’t even look at me. He ignored me completely,” Net answered as he sipped his wine.
Nara shook her head in frustration. “That means he’s really angry, Net. You know how it is; when Leon is silent, it’s not a good sign. He’s terrifying. It’s a miracle he didn’t kill you,” she shuddered.
Nara was well aware of her brother’s temperament. She knew Net understood it too. A Leon never hesitated to eliminate anyone who discomforted or displeased him, no matter how minor the issue.
“But Nara, I’m truly exhausted this time. I genuinely want to give up. Why is it so hard to just let go?” Net said, exhaling sharply. His face reflected his frustration.
Nara shook her head again, clicking her tongue in disbelief.
“Net... it seems like you really love him.”
“I do, Nara. I love James so much that it feels like I’m on the brink of insanity. I love him, yet I openly hurt him. I miss him terribly. What should I do, Nara?”
