Peat felt a surge of panic when he couldn't reach James. The night was already late, and James's motorcycle wasn't parked in Fort's garage when Peat and Fort returned.
"Fort, James isn't in his room! I can't get in touch with him!" Peat exclaimed, his face etched with worry.
"You mean James hasn't returned from campus?" Fort asked, brows furrowing.
"The campus library closed at seven. It's almost nine now, and when I called him at five this afternoon, he said he would be back in an hour. Fort, where is James?" Peat continued to try calling James's phone, pacing restlessly.
"Calm down, Peat. Don't panic," Fort urged, trying to soothe him.
"How can I stay calm? I can't reach James!" Peat nearly shouted.
"Have you asked James's other friends?" Fort inquired, attempting to alleviate Peat's anxiety.
Peat nodded. "I just asked in the chat group; Mey and Nuva said they saw James in the parking area before he left at five. But why isn't he home now?"
"Alright, take a deep breath. Let's get in the car and look for James together," Fort suggested.
Peat had an app installed on James's phone that could track his location. Fort had advised him to install it so they could keep an eye on James without letting Net's spies tail him. They were both genuinely concerned about James, who had been downcast after a recent heartbreak.
The location pinpoint of James began to appear on Peat's phone.
"It's pointing toward an alley, Peat. Our car can't get in there," Fort said.
Peat immediately unbuckled his seatbelt.
"Let's search on foot!" he declared, grabbing his phone and hopping out of the car.
Peat ran toward the location to find James.
Eventually, Peat and Fort stumbled upon James's pink motorcycle lying on the side of the road, with his phone and bag resting atop it. The back of the motorcycle looked damaged, amplifying Peat's anxiety and panic.
"Fort! James's motorcycle, bag, and phone are here! What if James has been kidnapped?" Peat asked frantically.
Fort felt a surge of panic as well, but he tried to remain calm to handle the situation quickly.
"I'll ask P'Net's people for help. Hopefully, P'Net can assist," Fort said as he searched for Net's contact in his phone.
"You want to ask that j3rk? P'Net? If James really has been kidnapped, it's probably because of him!" Peat yelled.
"Peat..." Fort attempted to calm him down.
"Fort, we have to report this to the police right now!" Peat urged, urgency lacing his voice.
Fort tried once more to soothe Peat. "Peat..."
"What if James is in the hands of someone influential? We don't know what's happening. Reporting this to the police without knowing the situation could endanger James. Let's think of a plan wisely," Fort said gently, gripping Peat's shoulder.
"Let me contact P'Net, okay? If this involves him, he's the only one who can help rescue James," Fort suggested.
Peat took a deep breath before finally nodding in agreement.
Peat knelt, trying to calm the storm of emotions within him. His eyes brimmed with tears, panic coursing through him at the thought of losing James. His mind was racing, and he couldn't comprehend what had happened to James.
