Karan's pov
Today, I'll finally get to see her. Kashish is coming back to college after her recovery, and I can't believe how excited I am. The moment I opened my eyes, I felt this rush of energy, like today was going to be different-better. I got ready earlier than usual, too restless to waste any time. Every second felt like it was dragging on, and all I could think about was seeing her again.
Aman reached my place just as I was pacing around, and he called out, "Let's go, man! What are you waiting for?" I could tell he knew exactly why I was so eager, but he didn't tease me about it this time. He knows how much seeing her means to me.
We headed toward college, and my heart started pounding harder the closer we got. And then, as we reached the entrance... I saw her.
Kashish.
She was dressed in this beautiful indo-western outfit, simple but elegant, and she looked just like herself, but... I don't know, there was something different about her. Maybe it was just because I hadn't seen her in what felt like forever. For a second, I couldn't move. I just stood there, watching her like an idiot, trying to figure out what to say or do.
Aman nudged me, and I snapped out of it. I walked toward her, my heart racing faster with every step. She turned, her eyes meeting mine, and for a moment, I was afraid. She had no idea that I knew about the accident, or that I'd been at the hospital without her knowing.
But when I asked her how she was, trying to keep my voice steady and not give away too much, she surprised me. She smiled-this soft, sweet smile that made my chest tighten-and answered, "I'm fine and doing better now."
Her voice was so gentle, so calm, and I felt this huge wave of relief wash over me.
I nodded, trying to play it cool, but inside, I was just so happy to hear her voice. To see her standing there, smiling at me.
"Good," I said quietly, meeting her gaze. "I'm glad you're okay."
I moved away from Kashish after talking to her, my heart still racing. Aman and I walked to class, my mind kept replaying that brief conversation with her. Her sweet smile, the way she said she was fine-it was like everything I'd been worrying about for days just faded away.
We got to class, and of course, the professor wasn't in the best mood. He snapped at me for something trivial, but honestly, did it matter to me today? A big no.
Nothing could ruin this day for me. I was too happy, too relieved to care about anything else. Kashish was back, and she was fine. That was all that mattered. The class dragged on, but I barely noticed. Eventually, the lecture ended, and I was packing up when my phone buzzed. It was a call from Mumma, asking if I could come home since I was free.
I turned to Aman. "Hey, I'm heading home. Mom called."
He gave me a nod, not making much of it. "Alright, I'll join Rupali and Kashish, then."
