I waited in the visitors lounge while mother prepared and approved the necessary documents inorder to transfer the title of a direct descendant of the house of lord montague to me. She didn't even bother to deliver it in person, she sent a maid. I thought to myself as I smirked took it. I made my way to the banquet there, I met my siblings, the ones that never bothered to visit me after the day I was born. I couldn't hate them because I didn't know enough about them to do that. I made my way way in and was introduced as a lords daughter. No one paid any attention to me and a few people barely looked and in my direction as expected since my ranking was so low. There are eight powerful dukedoms in the empire. Among them the top three in order are; The Dukedom of Frosthaven, Silvervale and Emberfall. The house of Windsor(my family's house) used to be in the top three until my father decided married mother, a half noble with no connections or inffuence. Which led to Dutchess Dowager resenting her and seeing her as a stain on the family name. My reason for attending this banquet is simply to get the duchess dowager to send me to the Royal academy using her resentment for my mother as a tool. The banquet progressed smoothly up until the announcement of Lady Lorelei's arrival. The manor erupted with whispers as she made her apperance. Glares from every corner and disdainful looks highlighted her apperance.

I couldn't help but feel curious watching her stride to the seat prepared for the 'Duke' of frostheaven the top Duchy in the entire empire, second *only* to the imperial palace

I couldn't help but feel curious watching her stride to the seat prepared for the 'Duke' of frostheaven the top Duchy in the entire empire, second *only* to the imperial palace. A few guests came to greet her in an attempt to get on her good side as she sat on the Dukes seat. Lady Lorelei..., there is little know about her apart from the fact that the Duke of frostheaven and his successors were conveniently killed by an unknown assassin which led to her somehow inheriting the Dukedom despite being female and his secret child. It was proven in court that she was his biological daughter and of true blood meaning she wasn't the child of a lover but rather the Dutchess herself. The Dutchess reportedly k*lled herself after the court hearing and Lorelei requested a private meeting with the emperor, the outcome of that meeting thus led to her taking over the Dukedom. With no successors in place, the house of Marquis Langton would have inherited the dukedom therefore leading to the promotion of other noble houses in the region but Lorelei took the position of dutchess at the age of sixteen making her permanent rivals/enemies of the house of Langton. The Marquis spread awful rumors about her and turned society against her claiming that she murdered her family, trying to get her removed from her position, sending assassin's kill her at night, poisoning her tea and so on. He did it all and still failed. The only reason he's able to save face and avoid punishment for his actions is due lack of solid evidence, not that it matters as everyone already knew that it was him. After all, what other noble house would be brave enough to go against the Dutchess of the house of Frostheaven? Thanks to the Marquis's efforts, lady Lorelei became a social pariah. She's only ever invited to royal festivities and that of the other Dukedoms who do so inorder to maintain a cordial relationship with the 'house' not the Dutchess. The only reason the house of Frostheaven is able to maintain its standing is due to Lady Lorelei's close relationship with the crown. She's two years older than me and honestly more trouble than she's worth so it's better to avoid her for now. After the whispers calmed down and eventually died into the music, I found the perfect opportunity and approached the Dutchess Dowager, we exchange greetings and I went down to business. Long story short, I secured my admission into the royal academy and am now getting ready to attend as a lords daughter.
