Bucky Barnes is not stupid.

He knew he fell in love with Y/n the moment he saw that glint of hope in her eyes. When he heard her unsure voice, not knowing what to do, but her eyes told Bucky to help her, he just felt like he had to help. He couldn't leave her alone when she needed help the most.

Bucky didn't trust his mind, ever since Hydra made Winter Soldier. He wasn't sure if he would ever hurt someone again as the Winter Soldier, but he also wasn't sure that he was free from the Winter Soldier.

He always had nightmares. There wasn't a single night when he was able to sleep in his bed, there wasn't a single night when he didn't hear the screams of his victims. He always felt like there was no hope for him.

But then there came Y/n, and she turned his whole world around.

Ever since she has been around him, there were no nightmares, none. He was able to sleep, he barely heard the screams, and he even forgot at one point that the Winter Soldier existed.

He knew it's not a healthy way to cope with trauma, but she felt like a drug to him, making all of his problems disappear, even if it was just for a few moments. She was like a chill pill, that he very much needed. She needed help, and when he helped her, he also helped himself.

Forgetting the trauma will not erase it, he knows it. But her presence was enough to forget all about it. He couldn't just give this up, not when he finally started seeing a reason to live, not when he finally started thinking about the future.

He had so many regrets, he made so many mistakes. And she erased it completely whenever she was close to him.

And the more he was with her, the more he realised he loved her.

She was like the Moon. She wasn't the Sun, no. She had her own mysteries, she couldn't be a Sun like this. But she still shined bright in Bucky's life, exactly how the Moon shines at night. She was mysterious, like the Moon, but million times more beautiful.

Whenever she looked at him, he felt like he just had to act perfect. He wanted her to love him, and he wanted her attention. He wanted every little part of her, because in his eyes she was the future that he despised so much, but now that he met that future, he started to wait for it. He wanted that future.
