As Elodie sat on her bed in the dimly lit Slytherin dormitory, the familiar chill of stone walls surrounded her. The room, adorned with deep green and silver tapestries that swayed slightly with the draft, felt both claustrophobic and comforting. Candles flickered in the corners, casting long shadows that danced along the walls, while the scent of aged parchment mingled with a hint of dampness. The heavy drapes over the windows were drawn, blocking out the bright late September day, and leaving the space cloaked in twilight. Elodie sat, staring at her Defense Against the Dark Arts book, ever-focused on the picture frame of the Slytherin and her younger sister, Lucille.

Her roommates bustled about, their laughter filling the air as they rummaged through trunks and bags. Laurel Parkinson, with her blonde curls bouncing, was the first to break the comfortable silence of laughter. "Fancy a spot of study by the Whomping Willow?" she suggested, her eyes bright with excitement. "It's a lovely day out, and the tree should be buzzing with activity!"

"I'm in," Anastasia Greengrass chimed in, twirling a strand of her dark hair with a bored expression. "It'll be a laugh watching those branches flail about. Just try not to get yourself whacked, Elodie."

"Like she'd ever let that happen," Allison Shacklebolt added, grinning as she flipped through a textbook. "She'd probably just leap out of the way and let it smack someone else!"

Elodie felt her irritation boil over. "I can't go, alright? I've got detention with Xavier and Tom Riddle."

The laughter died down, replaced by a wave of curious expressions. "Tom Riddle?" Laurel scoffed, her voice dripping with disdain. "Good luck with that. I'd rather deal with a Bludger than spend an hour under his watchful eye. He's cute, but such a buzzkill."

"Right?" Anastasia agreed, a smirk playing on her lips as she leaned against her neatly made bed. "It's bad enough having Xavier in there, but Riddle? Honestly, Elodie, what did you do to deserve this?"

"I didn't do anything!" Elodie snapped, her cheeks flushing. "It's all Xavier's fault. I'm just stuck with them."

Allison leaned in, a teasing glimmer in her eye. "You know, some girls would be thrilled to have Tom Riddle all to themselves. I hear he's rather charming, in a frightening sort of way."
