She'd always been that way, for as long as she could remember. Her mother had, over the years gotten used to her daughter's fear. Hospital visits were a nightmare when shots or blood tests were required, as the Green girl threw violent fits as a child, fighting various nurses and doctors who fought to hold her down.

There was something about pure, unadulterated fear. It brought forth some foreign strength within the girl.

Of course, things changed once she got older. Things are always changing, Sarah was less afraid of needles, and she didn't mind doctors all that much. Her distaste for blood remained, as she would pass out with so much as a glance.

Sarah stirred in her sleep, well, kind of. She was in some in-between place, as she wasn't awake, but also not asleep. Her head was pounding, as sharp pains coursed through her body. Lids fluttered ever so slightly, as she groaned.

It was too bright wherever she was. The air was cold and sterile. The scent of rubbing alcohol and rubber invaded her senses, as the Green girl curled in on herself.

The sound of a steady beeping brought her out of her dream-like state, as her brows furrowed. The girl opened her eyes hesitantly, before shutting them quickly as the lights blinded her.

The girl stifled a groan as she grimaced.

"Oh, she's awake," Robin shouted from across the room before the girl rushed to her best friend's side. The Buckley girl attempted to soothe a clearly confused Sarah as her eyes adjusted to the oddly lit hospital room.

Kneeling by Sarah's bed, Robin gently caressed her best friend's uninjured shoulder, carefully eyeing the strange look in Sarah's eyes.

She was a bit confused when she received a call from Vanessa Green at nearly four a.m. This confusion quickly became fear when she learned that Sarah was in the hospital. They said it was an animal that attacked her.

Robin had expected confusion, maybe anger, or possibly fear. She'd read enough 'fun fact' books to know how most would respond to trauma, perhaps Sarah was in a sort of shock. The Buckley girl was unsure what exactly the girl was feeling at the moment, but there was something about her eyes.

They looked haunted, dead even.

Shaking her morbid thoughts away, the Buckley girl

"You lost so much blood, I have no idea how you're still alive?" Robin blurted out, the statement incredibly strange sounding. Sarah laughed at this, before wincing.

Looking around the small hospital room, she spotted her mother who sat in a chair near her bed, Vanessa slouched against the plastic chair as she snored.
