Sonic The Hedgehog

Chapter 5

Wachowski Residence, late morning/early noon

Dawn's POV

Dad was marking things down on the map while I was sitting at the table coloring. It was a coloring book filled with flowers, plants, and all sorts of other things connected to nature. For some reason, I've always felt a deep connection to nature, moreso plants, and flowers. It made me feel kind of like Poison Ivy, except I wasn't a villain. I could swear I have some sort of magical green thumb or something.

Flashback

3rd POV

Dawn was planting flowers and she planted a sunflower seed. She turned around to grab the watering can and when she turned back, the seed was already a little sprout which made her shocked. 

She leaned closer and looked at the little sprout, not noticing the green glow that came from her hands and seeping into the ground towards the sprout.

 She sat back up and turned away before looking at the plant again to see that it was already ready to bloom making her gasp. As she looked at the flower, a plant from behind moved toward her and picked her up suddenly causing her to scream, the plant then disappeared and Dawn screamed again as she fell from the height where the plant had disappeared. 

A large sunflower then came and saved her making her breathe in and out in sharp inhales and exhales. In her confusion, she grabbed onto a tree nearby and a green glow seeped into the trunk, the tree started falling forward causing Dawn to scream again before she was abruptly saved by a small flower bed. 

Dawn's breathing was heavy and Tom and Maddie came out in fear and worry.

Maddie: Dawn, honey, are you ok!?

Dawn: There was- I just- The plant...!

As Dawn looked around, everything was back to normal as if everything she just went through never happened.

Maddie: C'mon honey, let's get you back inside. I think the heat is getting to you.

Tom: Yeah, c'mon.

The three walked into the house with Dawn looking back at her garden.

End Of Flashback

Dawn's POV

The sound of Dad's phone ringing snapped me out of my flashback. Fortunately or rather unfortunately, Mom and Dad believed that I was getting a little too much heat that it caused me to see things but I don't think that was the case. But, I didn't dwell on it as I listened to the phone call. 

Mom was in San Francisco with Ozzy, Aunt Rachel, and my little cousin Jojo. Jojo is the sweetest little bundle of joy, and Aunt Rachel doesn't like me all that much and keeps trying to convince Mom to leave Dad.

Tom: Hey!

Maddie: Hey!

Tom: Whatcha doing?

Maddie: Just coloring with Jojo and Rachel.

I quickly run up behind Dad.

Dawn: Same!

Dad and Mom laugh

Tom: Ah, that sounds...half fun. Hey, exciting stuff here; we had a power outage, the whole town went dark! It was like a sign telling me to get out of Dodge.

Maddie: Wade must have lost his mind.

Tom: Yeah...and he does not have much to lose. How's your sister? Did she convince you to leave me yet?

Maddie: No, but she did tell me to check your phone for dating apps.

Tom: The only apps on my phone are the ones that came with it.

Dawn: And the Olive Garden.

Maddie: Because when you're there...

Tom/Dawn: You're family.

He stops after hearing something outside his garage.

Tom: No way. "He looks out the window to it and opens a drawer" The raccoons are back...and they are in for a surprise.

Dawn: "Cautiously" Dad...

Maddie: "Hearing my cautious tone" Your surprise better not be my tranquilizer gun; they're just hungry!

Maddie: And also, that's for bears.

Tom: "He grabs the weapon and cocks it" Good. Now I know it'll work.

Maddie/Dawn: Tom!/Dad!

Tom: I'm kidding; I'm just gonna use it to scare 'em... "under his breath" ...possibly to death.

Tom: "Shortly before hanging up" Love you, honey, bye!

Maddie: Tom-

Dad scoops up a bit of cake on his finger and licks it before walking out to the garage with me following him. Meanwhile at Aunt Rachel's,

Rachel: D-I-V-O-R-C-E.

3rd POV

Sonic has now climbed through the garage window, leaving behind some dirt on the workbench before getting off of it.

Sonic: Okay, I'm in...with minimal damage to Donut Lord's property. "He pulls out a ring" Here we go, it didn't work out on Earth, but that's ok! You couldn't find your protector either but that's ok as well! Maybe she's living a happy normal life. You are going to a nice safe world filled with mushrooms...mushrooms that'll be your only friends. "He starts to have second thoughts" That sounds awful, I can't do this! You have to do it, there's no other option!

Sonic reluctantly takes a deep breath a prepares to toss the ring

Sonic: All right...

Tom then bursts into the garage with the tranquilizer gun in hand and Dawn behind him with a bored look on her face, not paying attention.

Tom: SFPD, pending background check, paws in the air!

Dawn: Dad...is this really necessary?

Tom: Right now, yes! Look!

Dawn turns to face Sonic who is frozen in shock and when the two lock eyes.

Sonic:...uh...meow...?

 Dawn suddenly gasps and images begin to fill her mind. Sunflowers, people wearing strange clothing, a giant owl, and multiple voices saying, protector, you are the protector of Sonic the Hedgehog, You are the last of the sunflowers. 

Tom's POV

Unknown:...uh...meow...?

The both of us start screaming and I shoot the tranquilizer dart at that thing. From beside me, Dawn's eyes are wide and her eyes are...glowing!? The thing then starts to lose stability and falls to the ground, dropping whatever it had in its hand. I then hear a thud and I look and Dawn has FAINTED!

Tom: Dawn!

I quickly kneeled beside her, making sure she was still okay when a portal opened in front of us from that thing and a small satchel fell on top of a building along with a necklace that looked like the other half of Dawn's.

Unknown: No...ugh...

the portal closes and the thing faints in front of me, leaving me in complete shock.

Tom: What...?
