As soon as I walked into Mckenna's bedroom I made my way for her ihome. I immediately stuck in my iPod and turned my favorite playlist on, this one featuring a lot of drum solos with a thick bass guitar. I loved music. I loved how it pulsed through my body. How a strong down beat worked in time with your heart. I loved every ounce of music. My friends often made a joke about it, 'There goes Katie, never seen without her head phones in her ears.' But it was true, and even the teachers at our school knew it. I was constantly getting in trouble for having my music in and getting my iPod confiscated. I had a few cool teachers though that struck a deal with me, they would let me have my music in as long as I kept an A in their class.
I often spent a lot of time at Mckenna's house. I knew every inch of it. I basically lived there. I was basically an only child, I was the youngest in the family and all of my siblings had moved out and live far away. My parents also traveled a lot and I was left to stay at home so I spent a lot of weekends at Mckenna's house.
We joked around that I fit in with Mckenna's family better than even she did. McKenna was the was the only one in her family with red hair and blue eyes. Everyone else in her family had brown hair and brown eyes. I was considered apart of Mckenna's family.
As Mckenna walked into her room she rolled her eyes, 'Listening to The Maine? Again?' 'Always.' I replied with a smile. McKenna walked over to her closet and pulled out an arm full of clothes. She tossed them onto her mint green bed. 'Well, it's not much but we have to find something to wear to the party tonight.' McKenna sighed. It was five o'clock. Two hours. I still hadn't told McKenna about my plan. I hadn't told anyone. I walked over to her bed an pulled off a purple top. It was one of my favorites. I had given it to her for her 16th birthday, knowing that I would get the chance to wear it. Next I grabbed for some black skinny jeans and brown boots. Then I curled my hair and threw on a silver heart necklace. McKenna walked over to the bed and pulled out a green top and some pants. She went into the bathroom to change and when she came out I basically looked like a potato next to her. There was something about her family, they had a certain poise to them that made them all look very graceful. I could never really understand it, but I felt confident in what I was going to do tonight.
It was six oclock. One hour before the party started. We were going to leave in fifteen minutes and go pick up some guy Blake knew on the way. Blake had a couple classes with this guy and told us a little bit about him. He had asked us to pick him up on our way because he didn't have his car this weekend. I hadn't met him before but McKenna said he was nice and wasn't bad looking either. I couldn't remember what she had said he name was but I guess I will find out soon.
