It had been a few weeks at this point without any incident, which was slightly strange. Wren had gotten used to some type of chaos going on at any given time, but things had been eerily calm. She would spend most of her days following Jennifer around, making sure she wasn't getting into any trouble. She was glad to see Jennifer running around, enjoying her life again. Even if she still made poor choices, at least she stopped to think now before going ahead and doing it anyways. It was a small step, but Wren figured that she could work with that.
When she wasn't with Jennifer, she was with Jack, making sure he also wasn't off being stupid. Jack was still in recovery from his ordeal in the woods, where he had nearly died. Now, he spent most of his time blackout drunk, unwilling to let himself be sober and face reality. Wren knew that he would eventually get over this, but it still wasn't great to see.
She had to keep an eye out as well for Jesse. After a few conversations with Fletcher, the two of them had agreed to keep Jack and Jesse away from each other for the time being. The last time they were allowed in the same room together, a fight had broken out, and Jack wasn't seen again for a few hours. He had only returned after Wren found him back in the woods and dragged him back to the house. With Jack being overly sensitive and a flight risk, they had decided that it was best like this for now, at least until he got over his entire "I shouldn't be alive" thought process.
For the most part, Wren had control over it all. She hated feeling helpless, feeling helpless led to panic, and panic usually resulted in a major storm that would sweep over them all. In fact, any intense emotion tended to result in some type of disastrous storm, whether she meant for it to or not, so she had to stay calm no matter what. For the most part, it was fairly easy for her to do so, even when Jennifer tested her, she kept her cool. Regardless of what was happening around her, Wren was confident and sure, keeping everything and everyone under control.
That was, until she saw Jennifer one night.
Wren had been out for most of the day, running errands with Simon. They had to go find some more stardust to produce, so they had taken off with Coeur and Leo in search for some. This had mostly been an all day venture, and she figured that if anything happened, Fletcher could get ahold of them fairly easily. It shouldn't have been too bad anyways, he told her that they were all going to go to the beach for the day just to have some fun after the past few weeks. Her only concern was that Jack was going to be by himself, but he had been too busy wasting away in his room, she figured it would be alright. It kept Jack and Jesse away from each other, and allowed Jennifer to go out and have some supervised fun.
It was fairly late when they finally flew back in. Wren had talked on the phone with Fletcher earlier in the day when the three of them had gotten back home. He had let her know that he had work in the morning and was going to go ahead and go back to his home for the night. Nothing had happened, and Wren was relieved. So it was a surprise when they finally got home and found Jennifer going insane on the couch.
Jennifer was sprawled out, laughing hysterically at nothing in particular. Her eyes were glazed over, and she waved her arms around as if she was conducting an invisible orchestra.
"Hey! Look," Jennifer slurred, becoming excited to see Wren and Simon. "I can fly as well!" She was standing on the couch, looking ready to fall over any second now. Wren couldn't help but watch in horror as she dizzily climbed higher to the back of the couch and prepared to jump off. She quickly lept into action, grabbing her and bringing her back down to the ground before she could even try.
It took Jennifer a quick moment, just staring Wren down before finally registering who it was, "Wren! You're back!" She was laughing, at what? Wren wasn't sure, but something had obviously happened here.
Wren's heart sank. "Jennifer, what happened?" she asked, holding her steady.
Jennifer looked at Wren with a goofy grin. "I dunno" She erupted into another fit of laughter, doubling over and clutching her stomach.
