Chapter 4:Switching jobs

Emma blaze

As sunlight streamed through the curtains, Emma stirred awake, the soft warmth of the morning wrapping around her like a cozy blanket. The enticing aroma of freshly brewed coffee wafted through the air, mingling with the mouthwatering scent of something delicious cooking in the kitchen. Her stomach rumbled in response, reminding her that she hadn't eaten anything the night before.

With a sleepy smile, she stretched and sat up, rubbing the sleep from her eyes. The sounds of sizzling and clattering dishes drifted in from the kitchen, and she couldn't help but feel a sense of comfort wash over her. Alisha was up early.

Emma swung her legs over the side of the bed and padded to the kitchen, the promise of good food pulling her out of her sleepy haze. As she entered the kitchen, the sight of Alisha flipping pancakes and brewing coffee made her heart swell with gratitude. This was exactly what she needed—a fresh start, a good friend, and a delicious breakfast to kick off the day.
"Alisha?" Emma called out, her voice still thick with sleep. "What are you making? It smells amazing!"

"Just a little something to start our day right!" Alisha replied, her cheerful tone echoing from the kitchen. "Come on, You won't want to miss this!"

"Okay, I'm officially awake now," Emma said, a grin spreading across her face as she took in the scene. "What can I do to help?"

After finishing their breakfast, Emma stood up with a content sigh, glancing at the clock on the wall. It read just past 9 a.m. "Hey, Alisha," she called as she gathered the plates. "Aren't you supposed to be at work by now? I thought you had to be there by 7 sharp?"

Alisha leaned back in her chair, a playful smile dancing on her lips. "I do, but I took the day off to keep you company. I figured you could use a little break after everything."

Emma paused, her heart warming at the gesture. "Really? You didn't have to do that! I hope you didn't have anything important planned."

"Nah, nothing that can't wait," Alisha replied, waving her hand dismissively. "Besides, I'd much rather spend the day with you. We can binge-watch that show you love or even hit the mall if you're up for it."

Emma felt a rush of gratitude and relief. "You're the best, Alisha. I really appreciate it." She smiled, feeling lucky to have such a thoughtful friend. "Now, let me clear these plates so we can plan the rest of our day!" She hesitated a little remembering her train of thoughts last night " uhm Allie could we have moment please " Allie looked up from the newspaper she was reading with a quizzical expression on her face "sure what's up?" Here goes nothing " so I have no where to go , I .., I was thinking maybe I could....., " Alisha cut her off holding a finger " first off I'm offended you'd think I won't let you stay here as much as you want even if it's eternity, second off yes of course bitch you can be my roommate for as long as you like no pressure " Emma's eyes welled up she couldn't hold back the tears right now she instantly dropped the plates and gave her best friend a long hug and continuously thanking her while Alisha just rolled her eyes in happiness cause she glad her friend is happy.
After doing the dishes Emma and Alisha was planning on what they would be doing today when she suddenly realized she forgot to email her superiors that she quit they would have tried to contact her by now cause her phone is switched off she quickly leaped up rushing to her now room took her phone switched it on looked for her laptop in her luggage went back to living room while a dazed Alisha looked at her friend like she had grown two heads . "Girl what was all that running around about ?" Alisha asked Emma looked up from her phone "Oh it's nothing I'm turning in my resignation today since I no longer live in Washington DC ." She replied , Alisha froze and asked her "what is the name of your hotel again ? "
"Magical feelings hotel and suites?," she replied continued typing away in her phone after she was about to hit the send button Allie stopped her .

"Emma, wait," Alisha said, stopping in front of her. "Before you make any rash decisions about resigning, I have some news. There's a new branch of the hotel opening up in New York, and they might have a spot for you!"

Emma looked up, confusion etched on her face. "What? I can't just transfer. I thought I was done with this job for good."

"No, listen," Alisha urged, her excitement bubbling over. "You don't have to give up on everything.  See? " Alisha said showing her a picture of a new hotel building here in New York which happens to be named magical feelings hotel and suite , what luck ?

"I just texted my old boss, telling him about my sudden move. I asked if he could recommend me to the boss . With the branch just opening, they might even have my preferred position available." Emma told Alisha

Alisha's eyes widened, hope flickering in her expression. "You really think they'd consider you ?"

"I hope they would!" Emma replied, her in worry . "You're amazing at what you do, and this could be a fresh start for you. Just imagine living in New York and working in a place you love." Alisha stated
Emma took a deep breath, the weight of her worries lifting slightly. "Okay, let's see what happens. But I'm still scared, Alisha. What if my boss says no ? "

"You don't have to be," Alisha reassured her, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. Emma checked her email and saw a reply from her boss saying how they were sad to see her go and how he has booked a an appointment with the new boss at 12 noon that same day she was so ecstatic she screamed shocking Alisha which made her almost run out of the apartment . "What the fuck is the screaming all about you almost gave me an heart attack " Alisha questioned still looking shocked

"I've got an appointment at noon with the boss of the new hotel here in New York if all goes well I might get the job !!"
Now it was Alisha's turn to scream !! And jump around the apartment they both screamed and jumped around the apartment for about 40 secs like teenagers.
Emma checked the time it was 10:49 she panicked she started thinking all sorts of bad things was she going to make it on time ? Would the new boss love her ? Would she be given a good position even tho she is over qualified? What if the other employees don't like me ? She thought Alisha noticing her panic stricken face she walked up to her friend and calmly shook her "hey , hey look at me Emma Marie blaze ,. You have got this ! You would nail this interview and would get a very good offer trust me people love you and I love you " Alisha calmly pep talked her
That gave her enough confidence boost she went to her bedroom to get ready followed my Alisha she checked her bag for something suitable to wear she settled for a black pencil skirt which was a little bit about the knee and a cream colored shirt and a beige jacket

Emma was ready to face this new life and ace the interview with a good luck from Alisha she climbed out the car and entered into the building where her new job awaits.
