A Taste Of Happiness

Chapter 1:The break up

Emma woke up with a sense of dread, knowing that a lot of things in her life were about to change. She hated that feeling, but she had to suck it up and do it for her own good. At least she would still have her job and the apartment if everything worked out between the two parties, right? She took a deep breath, trying to shake off the anxiety as she prepared to face whatever the day would bring.

She flung the comforter off her body and got up from the bed. She had to ready for work , she works as a supervisor at a prestigious hotel owned by the wealthy businessman Reynolds's she walked into the bathroom brushed her teeth took a shower , after taking a shower she dried up went to her side of the closet took out a pencil blue skirt with a black satin shirt she blow dried her hair and combed her hair tying it up in a ponytail she got dressed collected her briefcase and phone went downstairs to have breakfast and hopefully some coffee.
"Hey babe "
Emma looked up from walking down the stairs there he stood Gerald her boyfriend of 5years making coffee by the coffee maker., at least one good thing came out of This dreaded relationship which is him making coffee every morning just the way she likes it.
"Hey" she replied
"Here's your coffee babe " Gerald said handing her a mug of coffee
"Thanks I really needed this " she took sip of the hot coffee she smiled when the taste of the coffee hit her taste buds.
"So what's for breakfast " she asked him
"Bacon,scrambled eggs and pancakes your favorite I made them with love "
"Hhmm-mmh I'm sure you did " Emma murmured to her self
"What was that. " Gerald asked ?
"Oh nothing babe just saying thanks a lot " she replied in a high squeaky voice.
"So I was thinking why don't we go out tonight for dinner my treat " said Gerald
Emma panicked she dropped her fork and stared long hard Gerald she couldn't afford to do what she was going to do at a fancy five star restaurant she needed to save ass stat! Think Emma think !! You have lied to your bosses one too many times right ?
"Uhmmm babe you good ? " Gerald asked a constipated looking emma .
"Uh yeah ! I'm fine ! Totally! Fine ! " she squealed loudly
"Uh.... Babe about that dinner let's just do that another time we need to talk when we both get home from work " I hope this works emma thought .
Gerald looked up from his coffee, confusion etched on his face. "Sure, what's up? Is everything okay?"

"I just... I think we need to have an honest conversation about us," she had replied, her heart pounding. "Can we do that later?"

"Yeah, of course," he said, a hint of worry creeping into his voice." is it serious?"

"It's nothing to worry about," she had quickly reassured him, even though her own heart was heavy with doubt.
"Just something we need to address."

"Oh okay, I will be home early in that case "

Emma was shocked with his reply just cause she said they needed to talk he was going to come home frigging early woah she needs to Leave the apartment right or else she would blow everything. So she did that she left the apartment to work without saying a word to him no kiss no goodbye hug no nothing. She walked out of the apartment slammed the door angrily thank God their apartment were not filled with nosy neighbors no one was poking their heads through the doorways trying to catch the enstrange couples fighting she walked down to the elevator pressed the open button she waited for about 20 seconds before the elevator doors opened to her she entered and pressed the garage buttons the elevator door slide open about 30secs later she walked out and took her keys from her purse and opened the door to her 2015 Mercedes c300 she got in and drove off to her workplace. While at work Emma couldn't get her mind off the fact that Gerald said he was going to be home early just because she wanted to have the talk with him is he that excited to leave her for her ? She shook of the crazy feeling and decided to focus on work she needed to get some work done to get her mind off the fact that she was going to break up with her boyfriend tonight no procrastination tonight is the night she's been holding it off for far too long.
It was 4 o'clock when she decided to call her best friend Alisha who lives in New York Emma sat at her desk, her mind drifting back to the morning conversation with her boyfriend. She couldn't shake off the nervous energy that had settled within her. With a deep breath, she reached for her phone and dialed her friend's number.
As her friend answered, Emma's voice trembled slightly, "Hey, I did it. I told him we need to talk tonight."
Her friend's reassuring voice came through the phone,
"That's a big step, Emma . You did the right thing. It's going to be okay, I promise."
Feeling a sense of relief wash over her, Emma gathered her courage and asked, "Hey, is the spare bedroom in your apartment ready for me to move into? Just in case things don't go well tonight."
Her friend replied with a comforting tone, "Of course, it's all set for you. You're always welcome, no matter what happens. We'll get through this together, okay?"
Emma smiled, grateful for her friend's unwavering support. "Thank you, I really appreciate it. I'II keep you posted on how things go tonight."
With a renewed sense of determination, Mercy returned to her work, knowing that she had a supportive friend by her side no matter what the evening held.
An hour passed and it was time for Emma to return home she stood up not before tidying up her desk for tomorrow she gathered her briefcase and purse and matched to employee's parking garage
Emma drove too slowly, very slow that other drivers started honking at her to move her car or speed up how she got home early was a miracle . Not that she wanted to get home on time she even let some drivers cut her off on the road and wasn't offended but she still got home in record time for the BIG TALK .
