"Good Morning Aura, how are you today?" My neighbour Collette asked.
"I'm great thanks, I'm just off job hunting again. What about you?" I sighed back.
It's been three weeks since I have arrived in New York City. I managed to get an Air B&B to lease very short term. My neighbour Collette, who goes by Letty, lives in the next unit along. She comes from Alabama and is here for school. She's wants to work in computer programming for the government or something. Even though she's slightly younger than me she plays a mother like role towards me and it makes me feel so safe when she's around.
"I have classes all day today but good luck with the job hunt, let me know how you get on. We could go for coffee later?" She said.
"Yea, that would be great. Meet you here at 5:30pm. Have a good day Letty." I said as I put my bag on my shoulder and made my way to the subway station.
Even though, I managed to get that Air B&B I needed something more permanent. Somewhere I can start putting my roots down and feel completely safe. New York is mega expensive and even though I have more than enough money at the moment. The cash won't last forever so I need to find a job for a steady income.
In the past couple of weeks, I have tried all the chain restaurants, clubs, bars, anything and everything that is hiring but I guess my age and not having much experience other than a bit of cleaning on my CV doesn't help. My ex wouldn't allow me to work at a club or bar as he said he didn't want anyone looking at me.
Anyways I'm a very strong and positive person so I know what is meant to be will enter my life when it's suppose to happen...

Wait.. why do I recognise that company? I quickly shrug it off as maybe I have seen something about them in passing. I have seen so many companies recently that I don't remember them all.
I quickly take down the number from the window advertisement and text the number.
Good Morning, my name is Aura Preston. I have recently seen you advertisement in your window about the full time Maids position and I would like to apply. Could we set up an interview?
I quickly press send and start walking further down. I doubt I will even hear back from them but it's worth a shot. I just need a job.
A couple of hours pass searching for jobs. I managed to apply for a couple more bar positions. I need a break by this point, so I decide to take a seat outside of a quaint little cafe down a side street and order myself a caramel macchiato. Whilst waiting for my coffee, I pulled out my phone to check in.
I changed my phone the minute I got here. I threw my other phone and SIM card away so my ex had no way to trace me.

Huh? I haven't texted that many people. I start reading the conversation, I seem to have been entered into. It must a new phone system as it already has their names above their messages.
Faye: Morning Miss Preston, thanks for reaching out about the Maids position. I wanted to let you know before applying, this is a live in position. Would that be something you would be interested in?
Valentina: Hi Aura, could you confirm your age for us?
Tate: Aura, where are you from? Also could you send us a photo of yourself please.

Wait, I DO remember these names. They are from the advert I saw on my TV the night my ex attacked me. I remember them being so powerful and so god damn beautiful. This is my shot, I quickly text back giving all the details they have asked.
Me: Good Morning Faye, Valentina, Tate and Anastasia. I would love to apply for the live in Maids position. I am 21 years old, turning 22 next month, and I am originally from England but I moved here a few weeks ago. Here is a photo of me.

Faye: Yes, yes and yes. Brilliant, can we see you tomorrow morning at 9am? Me: Yes, 9am is perfect.
Tate: See you at 9am Aura. It will be our pleasure.
Valentina: Just stunning. Can't wait to meet you Aura.
Anastasia: It will be a delight to meet you Miss Preston. See you tomorrow morning bright and early at 9am. - Anastasia.

I needed some interview clothes. I decided to buy with a tight black pencil skirt and a blouse. I'll tuck my blouse into my skirt. I also bought some black heels to complete my look. I think I'm ready. I walk towards the subway station and head back home.

Letty and I headed out for our coffee catch up. We ended up at a cute little cafe around the corner from our units.
Letty knows everything about my ex and me fleeing the country. I think that's why she's so protective over me. She really looks out for me and lets me confide in her even though she's slightly younger than me.
"So how did the job hunting go today Aura?" Letty asked seeming generally interested in me. It's nice having someone who actually cares.
"Great, I actually have an interview for a live in Maids position at 9am tomorrow." I said as took a sip of my coffee.
"Oh my god, yay! I'm so happy for you Aura, that's great. Who is it with?" She said congratulating me.
"Lula Tech co, it's a full time live in position but I'll come visit you everyday... if I get the job." I said putting my hand over hers.
She started giggling "Don't be daft, if you get it, which you will, you'll be super busy. Plus I'm looking for a permanent place too. But we have to promise each other we will still see each other regularly?" She said.
"Of course! I promise. You are my best friend Letty, no one will ever come between that. And look I haven't even got it yet." I shyly said.
That was true Letty was my best friend. Even though I only knew her a few weeks. She has gone out of her way to take care of me. That's more than anyone has done my entire life.
We talked for the next hour and a half and decided to head back. Letty has early morning classes and I needed to be up early to get ready and head over to Lula Tech co headquarters for my interview.
