"We have to do something." the king squeezed his wife shoulders as they sat in their large dining room they hoped their daughters would have seen two weeks ago.
"I know." she answered around sobs.
King Xavier's face suddenly brightened. "That's it." he snapped his fingers and swam away with one powerful beat of his tail.
"W-w-what?" the queen looked up from rubbing her eyes with seaweed paper. She rose from her chair and tore after him into the meeting room.
She found Xavier pouring over their army's ranks, written on slabs of thin rock made with the new invention by a Scandinavian merman.
"That's it, Anjalee." he looked up at her, smiling. "This is how we're going to get our daughters back!"
"OK...." Anjalee was unsure and had no clue were her husband was going with this.
"We send one of our army to go save the girls, just one. They disguise themselves as just a guy passing through for a drink. Because Krella will know if we go after her or send a large group of soldiers. I say we send this man." he passed her a rock tablet and she smiled, nodding.

"Well?" Jess's face was strained as I swam back into the cage.
"Are you...are you..." Amy began, sitting in a corner.
"No." I leaned against the wall and sat down, folding my hands around my tail. "N-no, I'm not."
"THANK THE LORD!" Jess exclaimed.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah. Krella'll make me try again, now lets go to sleep!" I was suddenly cranky and the white tail from the fall solstice was bugging all of us. Dirt showed against the scales more than dirt under your nails.
"GET UP YOU IDIOTS!" That's how we wake up, every day.
Krella threw some of the light pink tail dye in furiously and we all grabbed bottles without her even yelling at us.
"Hurry up! There's a young man at the door wanting a drink!" Krella hissed to us.
"I'm going." I mumbled and speedily applied my makeup before going out to serve the guy.
I looked at the clock on my way by and saw it was 9:23 am. A bit early, I thought.
I opened the door to the pub and turned to look at the merman Krella wanted me to serve.
He was gorgeous. He had short, spiky hair; a little turned up nose and full lips. And did I mention the abs? No? Well, let me tell you, he had abs.
"Hi." I smiled. "Are you sure you're old enough to be drinking?" I smirked.
"Came from up there did you?" he smiled and ran his hands through his hair.
I sucked my breath in and nodded profoundly.
"Well." he smiled then leaned against the door frame, flashing his silver tail. "Down here, drinking age is 15, can I please get though now?!" he asked, getting a bit mad.
"Oh - of course - sorry, I'll just - " I swam backwards, holding the door open for him as he swam in.
As the guy sat down and I rushed behind the counter to get my notebook, I saw Krella eyeing him, then looking at me.
"Shit." I said as I swam out from behind the counter, giving Krella the evil eye.
"What do you want?" I asked.
