"Werewolve's Bane"

Chapter 2

I came back home after my meeting with Mars, it was already 11pm so I quickly headed to my room to avoid any interaction with anybody cuz der is still dis unsettling feeling within me.

"Sup minime"...

I rolled my eyes then faked a smile before turning to see Akir in his glory with a full blown smile holding a bowl of cereals.

"Heyyy broo"......."wat r u doing up late"...I intentionally dragged my words maybe he'll get i am not in the mood. Don't get me wrong,  I missed my brother alot and I am really happy he's back buh I don't even no what's wrong with me I myself..I mean, I really looked forward to seeing him after like 2 years of his absence.

"Maybe cuz my minime or should I say my favourite person left immediately after I got back and was trying to sneak to her after she's back from whatever emergency she decided dat to attend to"..

I felt a pang of guilt rising in my chest after he said that.." oh sweet brother of mine trust me..I wasn't avoiding you, I promise..jus some issues dat came up at the wrong time and needed to be solved".

"Was dat is making you fake a smile at me......."

I must say dat got to me cuz I should I have known my elder brother knows me better than I no myself..his been my best friend though Akira always claims she's the one.."I wasn't faking anything ".. well the least I could do is defend myself.

"If you say so".....he said not sounding convinced..."do you wanna talk about it".....

Yh buh later ..I said with a sigh.. "l've got a long day ahead of me "

"Ok sure, Happy birthday in advance...."

"Tnx, I'll try catching some sleep.."

"Ok good night.. dream of me..."

"Yuck...I don't wanna have nightmares..".

"Whatever.."he said and rolled his eyes..

I ran up to my room and shut the door closed...l laid on my bed thinking about the events that are about happen after changing to a cozy and comfortable nightie before drifting to the la la ... land.

As I drifted off to sleep, my mind replayed the events of the day: Mars' mysterious message, the ominous wind, and his unexpected absence from my birthday party. My brother's perceptive questions lingered, too.

Suddenly, I was jolted awake by a faint howling outside. The full moon cast an eerie glow through my window. I felt an inexplicable pull, as if the moon was calling to me.

I tossed off my covers and stepped onto the balcony, the night air invigorating. The howling grew louder, and I sensed the pack's presence, their energy coursing through me.

"Mars?" I whispered, feeling his absence deeply.

The howling ceased, replaced by an unsettling silence.

"Happiest birthday Arika!!!!!!!!!!!"
I turned around and saw Akira.... coming my way with a smile....she opened her arms to me and I went in..maybe cuz I really needed it..

"Happiest birthday to you too Akira........."

"Why are you awake at this time"..I couldn't help asking...

"Why are you awake 2"...she asked back

"Nothing"..... I jus woke up..

"Same"...she said letting go off me..

We stood there for a moment, the silence between us comfortable.

"Let's go to the kitchen," Akira said, breaking the silence. "I made some birthday pancakes."
