"Sarah!" Evelyn screamed as she ran after her. "I'm going to get you!"

The girl had taken her friend's bag of chips and ran off with them. They were sitting on the beach with Natalia and Kayleigh, who had joined them shortly after Sarah and Evelyn arrived, taking a quick break from surfing and cleaning.

Unsurprisingly, the girls had made their way down to the beach to help clean after the storm. A year ago, Kiara would have joined them, but she decided she hated them suddenly and didn't want to continue hanging out with them.

Evelyn didn't mind. If someone decided to just ditch their friends, they weren't worth it anyway.

"You're too slow!" Sarah replied, but it wasn't worth the wasted breath, as Evelyn caught up to her right as she said that.

"Those are my chips!" she exclaimed as she tackled Sarah to the ground.

They rolled in the sand together for a bit before Evelyn managed to grab the chips and run back to the group. She was the fastest of the group, so she easily dropped off her chips, grabbed her board, and sped towards the ocean, with Sarah following close behind.

The water was cold as she jumped in. The salt was already drying out her skin and hair.

It was clear a sandbar had been created during the storm, so the waves were a bit bigger than usual, but so was the current.

It didn't take long for the two of them to reach a good spot.

"Any tricks today, Ev?" Sarah asked, wiggling her eyebrows.

Evelyn laughed, "You know it."

That was when she felt the current change. Evelyn looked out towards the Atlantic and saw her wave forming. It was a big one, but it was nothing like the storm surge had been.

"This one's mine!" She exclaimed, making sure she and Sarah didn't go for the same wave.

Evelyn paddled out, straight towards the wave. When she was close enough, she turned her board sideways and stood up. She took it slow at first, making sure to get a good feel for the wave.

Once she felt in control, she started with her tricks. The first ones she did were always simple: a few bottom turns and cutbacks. Then, she started doing all she could think of. Her favorites were the Air 360 and the rodeo flip.

As she surfed, Evelyn felt the wind blow through her hair. Surfing was the best feeling for her. It made her forget about her mother leaving, or her father dying, or her brother's idiotic tendencies.

She and her brother were never really that close, but now that he refuses to accept their father's death, Evelyn refuses to have anything to do with her past. She would never stay at The Château, never willingly hang out with John, and she absolutely would never speak with any of his friends.

As the wave began to die out, Evelyn was pulled out of her thoughts. She decided to unleash herself and dive into the water.

The water had a cooling sensation on her face. She knew she was a bit sunkissed, since they had forgotten about sunscreen, and it was the beginning of summer. Evelyn let herself open her eyes, but she saw nothing except sand and a few shells.

When she finally surfaced, she heard yelling from the shore. Looking back, she realized that she and her friends weren't the only people there anymore. There were now four other people on the beach.

Evelyn couldn't make out who they were, but it was clear Sarah was already back on the shore, yelling at one of them. While Sarah was occupied, Natalia and Kayleigh were yelling out her name.
