Matthew P.O.V.

"Matt! Matttt! Matt! Look, those are the people we were supposed to meet today." Ellie dragged me from my bed where I was reading a recipe to look at the window. From the position our room was in we were able to see potential new parents coming in and out from the adaptation center. The woman and man we were currently looking at gave off a major rich family vibe. I was not sure if I liked how the woman grimaced in disgust as she looked at the building or how the man was looking at anything but the building.

"They might be, but we shouldn't get our hopes up." I said as I watched the pair walk into the building and out of sight. Ellie giggled in excitement once they were gone. I watched her amused at her reaction. Deep down I knew it did not matter if I didn't like the people trying to adopt us. All that mattered is if they liked Ellie and if they would treat her right. I did not matter as long as she was happy.

A loud siren noise woke me up from the dream I was having. I always tended to have that dream when we went to see Luke's parents. They have adopted me, but I long ago stopped considering them my parents. Shaking my head to clear my drowsiness, I moved to turn off the alarm. I hated getting up in the mornings, especially as early as today. The sun wasn't even in the sky yet. I decided I had time to take a shower before heading down to the living area where I'm sure Erik was already waiting for Luke and I to finish getting ready.

The shower did its job and woke me the rest of the way up. I double checked the time and got dressed. Erik and Luke as I expected were already downstairs. Luke was nursing at the kitchen island while looking at his phone. His face was pulled in a grimace which led me to think whatever he was looking at was not something he wanted too. Erik on the other hand was leaning on the island and looking out the window in the living room that was connected to the kitchen. I walked over pouring my own cup of coffee.

"Did you all see the text Amira sent in the groupchat?" I asked, but I already knew the answer. The deepening grimace from Luke and Erik's narrow eyes told me as much.

"I'm not happy about it, but ultimately it is their decision. I'm worried that they couldn't find a decent hotel to stay the night at." Luke said. His tone was hard form not liking what he was saying.

I nodded agreeing to what he was saying. "I don't want to try and make decisions for them, but if that hotel isn't safe enough for them to stay at I don't think I can let them stay there." I added.

"The worst case scenario they could always stay with us." Erik said, still looking out the window. My heart quickened in panic at the idea. Luke's parents' house was definitely safer than a hotel at the end of the day, but I was not sure about having them close to Luke's parents. Erik's would be there as well, but they tended to keep to themselves and I highly doubted we would see them at all over the stay of our visit. Luke's parents on the other hand tended to be judgemental and blunt in their opinions. I don't think I could hold myself back if they decided to insult either Amira or Eira. Luke did not say anything, but his eyes told me he felt much the same way as me. Luke's parents may have spoiled him, but his relationship with them was just as bad as Erik's and mine.

A quiet vibration came from my phone distracting me from the conservation.

We are ready.

I glanced at my phone to see Amira had texted.

"Looks like it's time to go." I said to Luke and Matthew. Luke grabbed the keys to our car and walked to the front door with Erik following after him. I followed behind them.

The girls' apartment was not far from our house. It only took a couple of minutes to get there. After Kane left, the girls decided the house was way too big for them. We tried to convince them to let us pay for a great apartment that we were confident would keep them safe, but they pushed us to let them use their own money and rent a place we could afford. We managed to get them to compromise on an apartment close by us in case they needed us.
