When the sunlight came, when all of the vampires had gone to rest, that's when human affairs began.

And to humans, they'd treated the crimes of the vampire with much concern. They did not know what these creatures of the night truly were, only could see the blood of their brothers and sisters being spilled.

The woman who'd found the late politician that morning, screamed in horror. The graphic display of a dead man impaled by his security gate had been too much for his loving wife.

She'd immediately contacted the Scotland Yard, and it quickly hit the news. Every human in London, shocked by the revelation that an esteemed politician had been murdered in such a brutal manner.

And it became a hot button issue within that day, spreading to more circles than imagined.

The case was assuredly handed to an estimated investigator, the best on all the Yard. His name was Qian Kun, native to Fujian, he always closed his cases.

Over 116 solved cases, he had good instincts, and even more so, he had a strong head on his shoulders.

The Yard relied on him to solve this especially brutal case, and he was planning to do so no matter what the costs.

He was weathered, seasoned at his age of 46, working in his profession for 16 years. He'd sworn he'd seen it all.

But not this, not in this manner. He was drained of his life, his blood, yet displayed, decorating his front door like a wreath.

Quite the disturbed individual, if he did say so himself. He sent the body straight to the coroner's office, a man he knew only recently, Xiao Dejun.

Dejun looked young for the job, his wandering eyes a bit too wide for that of a coroner, but he was over qualified, and the last man who worked there had been killed as well.

What Dejun found would be of great aid to Kun's investigation, so it was of the utmost importance that he could be trusted.

Dejun seemed straightforward enough, although honestly he found the young man peculiar, he wasn't afraid of anything, not even death.

As if he were completely immune to it, he looked at a body analytically with no attachment to human life. Due to his career, Kun just assumed that was how he coped with seeing such gruesome corpses.

Although, he may have been sorely mistaken.

The day passed quicker than the nightfall, something about the winter air. Kun could feel his nose redden, reminding him of the winter in Fujian.

He, much like Sicheng, came to London because of China's ongoing conflict, his parents preferred that he stayed somewhere safe.

And he flourished, because everything he set his mind to he could do. Nothing felt impossible, no matter how difficult. His parents worked hard, and he was their only child, and he wanted to live a fulfilling life for their sake.

That's why he stayed up late, why he hardly slept. The night was too short for him to catch up with everything he could not complete in the daytime.

He was going to be the most successful man in the Scotland Yard
