Sicheng was tired, although Yuta still brought him out that night. And he didn't mind, would rather be spending time with Yuta than apart.
As they wandered the night, they noticed an influx of political posters. Covering each street corner, there were different but similar messages written on each.
'No more murders' one read in bold letters, another, 'Stop the ghouls.' And finally, 'Sir Bernard Smith for mayor.' This one, this one had caught Yuta's attention specifically.
The photo of Sir Bernard Smith looked eerily familiar, in fact, it was Baekhyun's face.
Yuta roughly yanked the poster off the wall, his anger visible. Even more so, as his breath grew thick in the winter air every time he huffed.
"What's the problem, Master?" A doting Sicheng curiously questioned. "That moronic vermin." He grumbled.
On his way to Baekhyun's worn-down house, he took harsh steps, unapologetically announcing his frustration.
He slammed his way through Baekhyun's door, until he found the man. He'd been nonchalantly brushing Jiyeon's hair, as she sat there in a doll-like manner.
"Might you explain what this is?" He showed the poster to Baekhyun, "Oh, that? It's the reason that I have been giving you such orders." He hummed.
"What do you mean?" A livid Yuta inquired, "With my gift, I thought that I should be the first vampire to rise to political power."
'His gift' was his ability to stand in the sun without burning, only the ancients could do so. "Besides, I've got some special help, Dejun! Come here."
And appeared the enigmatic vampire, Dejun somehow appeared more vampiric than any other creature of the night that crowded Baekhyun's bedroom.
"He, too, has the gift. If you want, he can gift it to you." Something about him, it made Yuta uneasy. "I'm not interested, thank you."
Yuta began to walk away, "Where are you going?" A relaxed Baekhyun interrogated. "Anywhere but here, I don't want this life."
Baekhyun rolled his eyes, Yuta was far too concerned in the effort of morals, and Baekhyun hated it.
Sicheng began to look up at Yuta with curiosity, and as they exited the house, he couldn't help but ask. "What's the gift?"
Yuta almost forgot how new Sicheng was, not even a decade old. "It's something that only the ancients ever had."
He explained, "They could walk in the sunlight, they could do a lot of things. But only those who have had the blood of the ancients." Sicheng nodded, it was a lot to take in.
All this time, he'd assumed that all vampires had an affliction to the light, but now he knew he could've interacted with vampires at any time during his mortal life.
"Do you have the blood of the ancients?" It caused Yuta to sigh, "No, nor would I ever seek such a dark gift." Fear, glimmering in his eye.
"Those with the blood of ancients are capable of a wrath that I intend for you to never know."
His voice quivered as it never had before, what was it that he'd seen that invoked such fear?
