"Amari...."

The queen has been sending us to hunt for food, it's either we find some or we become some, so there's not a lot of room for negotiation. Me and Brother have been raiding this one village for supplies. The vikings there fight back and they manage to take down some of us, but me and my brother always try to get them out. While the others go in and take stuff, we stay hidden in the sky, only firing twice. The first time is from my brother, who fires to tell the others that were halfway there. The second is from me, who fires to tell them that it's time to go. In all honesty, I doubt the vikings could ever beat us, but they insist on trying and refuse to leave, I admire them for that. Truthfully speaking, I would rather if we didn't have to fight them at all. It's not as if I like humans, not in the slightest, they have hurt me and my family in many ways, but these humans in particular have never hurt us without us starting it. It's us who takes from them, they are just defending their homes.
I was scouting out islands when I watched a viking burial ceremony...it was beautiful, and sad. It made me feel bad that we were tormenting these people who valued life so wonderfully. Many of the dragons at the nest do not agree, including my brother, so I have to keep these opinions to myself, but this is how I truly feel, especially right now.....while we're raiding the island of vikings.

"Brother! Move!" I heard my brother shout this and I did exactly as he said, not even bothering to look at what was shooting at me. I trusted him, I didn't have to check. After I dodged, he came up on my side, blocking any view of me from the village below. Unlike him, I was a snow white, so I didn't blend well against the night sky. It's for this reason that he usually hides me with own body.
"What are you doing? You're usually more focused?" He said while flying slightly below me, his large wing hiding my small body.
"I know, sorry, I got distracted."
"Just be more careful, okay? I can't let anything happen to yo-"Right as he said this, he got cut off and out of nowhere his body slammed into mine, this weird rope wrapping around us as we started to fall towards the ground. I could hear him yell out in pain, but I could see anything that was going on due to his wings encasing me.
"Brother!" I yelled out to him, getting no response before we both hit the ground and lost consciousness....

What's going on....I can't see anything....this warmth...this is brother, right?
I don't know what was happening, but I could recognize my brother's body wrapped around mine. He had one of his claws around me tightly. I don't know what was around us, but he was on guard. Something was approaching...it sounded small, but I still couldn't see what it was. I don't even know what we're stuck in.
"Human...." I heard my brother breathe this out with malice and I immediately tensed up, alerting him that I was awake.
"Brother...." I whispered to him.
"It's okay..stay quiet"He whispered back and I did what he said, the silence was deafening. All I could hear was his breathing and the crunching of leaves from whatever was circling around us. I stayed as still and quiet as possible, my heart racing from the unknown, then, out of nowhere, I could feel the ropes loosening. In the blink of an eye, I unraveled from my brother's grasp and he had a human pinned to a tree. He roared loudly at the small viking before turning and grabbing me, running off in some direction. The two of us took off, but as I started to fly, brother started to fall....fast. I dove down and grabbed him trying my hardest to fly up and stop his fall, but he was much larger than me, and way too heavy.
The two of us crashed into this cove, it had a small pond in the middle and was surrounded by stone cliffs, high stone cliffs.
"Brother!" I called while rushing over to him, and checking on him.
"I'm fine....are you okay?" He asked me while checking over my body.
"I'm unharmed, but you..."I paused as I looked him over and saw his tail was missing a fin.
"Your tail!"I rushed over to his tail, nudging it with my snout. Then I looked up at him, a pained expression on my face. I was unbelievably worried about him, but when I looked at him, he was worried at all. He had a calm, kind expression, as if he was trying to reassure me that everything would be okay. He walked towards me, sitting down right in front of me and wrapping his wings around me, placing his head on top of mine.
"It's okay brother....everything will be okay." He said this while he comforted me. I just tried my best to relax and believe his words.
That day we spent in the cove. At night the two of us curled together and slept under the stars. It was kinda nostalgic to before we had a cave...before we lived in the nest. Those days were hard....but incredible. We traveled all over, seeing new things, trying new fish, but now we live in the nest. I'm not sure if I could say it's better, I mean, it's safe and we have a cave to sleep in, but it's sorta like a prison. Regardless, brother likes the nest, and I refuse to leave his side.
I don't know what I'm supposed to do about my brother's flightlessness, but we have to get out of here soon.
"Sleep.." he whispered, knowing that I was still awake, overthinking.
"Amari brother...."
"Amari too..."
