Alex's fingers quivered as he locked eyes with Katherine, her scarlet gaze shimmering with a fierce, blood-red intensity. The sharp, lethal gleam in her eyes was a silent warning to all who dared look—she was a force to be reckoned with, danger personified.

Now, Alex found himself questioning whether Katherine was more dangerous than Celeste. But he didn't dare pursue the answer; he wasn't prepared to face the truth. Besides, he trusted in the strength of his mate, knowing she was a devil princess—a being of immense power.She was also of royal blood.

Alex's mind had been preoccupied with another pressing question. Steadying himself, he maintained his calm demeanor and finally asked her, "Do you... have anything to do... with what happened two years ago? Were you... involved?"

Katherine, who usually loathed being questioned by an omega, set aside her disdain for a moment. She, too, had a lingering curiosity about the events of two years ago and wanted to uncover more about what had transpired.

Katherine crossed her arms and replied, "No because two years ago, I was caught in a situation beyond my control. I heard about what happened, but it wasn't me. At that time, I was battling my bloodlust, all thanks to Celeste. She killed me, and when I came back to life... the blood loss, hunger, and overwhelming bloodlust all fused together, pushing me into a blind, uncontrollable frenzy. So, I was in a situation in which... I couldn't leave my house... for a few years."

Alex's eyes widened in surprise as he asked, "Then... if it wasn't you, who was it? Celeste never told me anything related to the enemies who targeted me and my sister. When I asked her, she said it didn't matter because she had killed everyone involved."

Katherine smirked, and Alex instantly realized that she knew something Celeste had deliberately kept from him.

"Oh... is that so?" Katherine replied, a hint of amusement in her voice. "Well, I discovered something quite interesting through my people about a year ago. And believe me, they were absolutely right. I'm telling you this in case you have any doubts about my comrades—they're both ancient and immortal, so no one knows better than they do. In fact, they even know Celeste's weaknesses."

Alex swallowed hard as he watched her rise from the bed. Just as she was about to leave, she paused and turned back. "For a moment, I thought I shouldn't tell you, considering it might shock you so much that it could jeopardize the vital role you have to play in my mission. But now that I think about it... it might actually be a good idea to tell you, so the shock leaves you powerless to resist. And since I have to leave for some business... I'll make it quick."

Alex couldn't quite place the reason, but his heartbeat quickened with a palpable fear of what she was about to reveal.

Perhaps it was because he had always known that Katherine's pride was as vast as the sky—she would never resort to lies or deceitful tactics to manipulate others or escape a situation. Katherine was genuine, a person of truth and facts.

Without even sparing him a glance, Katherine continued, "Celeste never mentioned the group of werewolves who attacked and kidnapped you two years ago, the same group that killed off your sister in cold blood. The truth is, that the group of werewolves was hired by... Celeste's mother. Since she herself cannot enter the human world, she orchestrated the attack through a pack of werewolves to have you killed. However, things didn't go as planned—your sister ended up being the one who was killed while Celeste managed to save you before you lost your life. Remember, Celeste is royalty. There's no way her mother, the Queen of the Underworld, would allow her daughter to be with a mere mortal omega... who can't even withstand her presence without trembling like a leaf.
