Ashlyn
"So...is Cassie coming back or not?" Ryan asks me, his hands landing on my hips and spinning me away from the open door to her room.
I catch myself peeking in sometimes, hoping this isn't it for us.
She's honestly been such a great roommate. She's clean, quiet. Fun when she needs to be, and never disrespects the rules.
If she knew Ryan were over as soon as she skipped town, she'd call me a hypocrite. But it's not my fault.
As soon as he heard, there was no stopping him.
"I don't know." I huff out an irritated breath. "Maybe. She left all her stuff so..."
"I can stay here with you." His eyes hold mine with a power I can't resist. "I mean, if you want me to."
Of course I want him to. I mean, better him than to have to ask Evelyn to be my roommate again.
She's not that bad, but I wanted a fresh start.
To feel like I was really on my own.
And Ryan moving in with me? This soon?
I mean, it is soon isn't it? We met only a year ago and it's not like we saw each other every day with school and work in the way, so it's practically only been six months if you count physical time spent.
But when he smiles at me the way he does, hovering this close to my lips, I almost stupidly let the words slip out from mine.
"I think Cassie's coming back." I bat my lashes at him, gently nudging him by his strong chest, but he doesn't budge more than a half a step.
"And if she doesn't?"
I twist my lips, staring at my hands against his skin. His complexion totally illuminating against my light skin.
He was gorgeous.
Tall, dark, handsome. Funny.
Charming...a little too charming, if you ask me.
But I'm not the jealous type, I remind myself. Well, at least I don't want to be.
"If she doesn't...we'll talk about it," I assure him. But it's really me who isn't certain.
He pulls me into him by my hips, while backing me against the doorframe and presses his lips onto mine in a sweet, but assertive kiss.
His tongue slips past my lips, my hand glides up his neck and rests on the sleek feel of his hair.
"I'm gonna shower." He nips my neck and I squeal, giggling as he finally unhands me.
I don't know what's in store for me and him, but I was along for the ride as long as it were in motion.
Relationships are scary as it is, and what's worse is that this is my very first. My first boyfriend and it's moving a lot faster than I ever anticipated it would.
I head into the kitchen, still contemplating what I want to make for dinner...or if I would just cave and order pizza like I usually do when I'm home alone.
I tap my finger on my hip as I glance around the empty counter space, and the front door opens, making my brows furrow because Evelyn just can't help herself.
"Oh goodie, you're back." I blink, watching my older sister cross the room. Setting her Louis V. Bag gently on the counter like it's a newborn baby.
"I'm bored." She crosses her arms before leaning over the ledge. "Let's go out."
