Chapter two
✶----✶----✶

Jimin couldn't focus.

The weight of Jungkook's proposition clung to him like a shadow, invading every corner of his mind.

He sat in the back of the classroom, eyes fixed on the board, but nothing registered.

The words floated in and out of his consciousness like smoke-there, but intangible, disappearing before he could make sense of them.

It didn't matter what the teacher said. His thoughts spun in an endless loop, repeating the same few sentences Jungkook had whispered the night before.

Enemies with benefits.

Jimin's grip tightened around his pen, his knuckles white with tension. Every instinct told him to fight back, to resist.

But there was no real way out. Jungkook had him trapped, and he knew it.

He hated how easily Jungkook had gotten into his head, how he had used Jimin's one soft spot-his relationship with Kai-against him like a weapon.

He glanced sideways at Kai, who sat a few rows away, completely oblivious to the turmoil that raged inside Jimin.

Kai was scribbling notes, his brow furrowed in concentration, unaware that their secret was teetering on the edge of exposure.

Jimin's chest tightened with guilt. If Kai knew what was happening... if he knew that Jimin may agree to Jungkook's twisted game to protect them both...

The bell rang, pulling Jimin from his spiraling thoughts. He stood quickly, shoving his books into his bag, hoping to leave the room before his mind could pull him back under.

But as he stood, a small folded note fluttered onto his desk. His heart dropped, recognizing the scrawled handwriting immediately.

Meet me on the roof. Now.

Jimin didn't even need to look to know who had written it.

He gritted his teeth, eyes flicking up to where Jungkook lounged near the door, his smirk already in place, like he knew exactly what was going through Jimin's head.

That smirk-that smug, infuriating smirk-made Jimin's blood boil. Jungkook was enjoying this, savoring every second of Jimin's discomfort.

Crushing the note in his hand, Jimin pushed past his classmates and out of the room, barely registering Kai calling after him.
