I walked right to the front of the queue that was growing outside of Harley's bar.
"Aliiiyaa. My girl. Wagwan?" Greeted Jamal. He was the owner of this place.I smiled shyly and gave him an awkward one arm hug which he turned into an intimate squeeze. He was rather large, six foot something, massive broad shoulders and arms the size of my legs. "Jamal, hey."
"Mhm long time," He frowned down at me, "Why you not come see me sooner?" His left eyebrow quirked up. Jamal was actually quite a young club owner at twenty-four but he looked older because of how built he was.
"I didn't come back until yesterday." I shrugged but gave him a smile. He pulled me to the side where he was stood so his bouncer could check IDs from the queue without us getting in the way. He was sat on a bit of low wall, and wrapped his arm around my waist to pull me between his legs. It felt a little wrong, considering I'd broke... whatever it was off with Jamal, at the end of last year.
"Yesterday? What about your whole summer?" The chain around his neck glistened slightly as he dipped his face closer to mine. He was giving me FULL eye-contact. It was a little intimidating but they were just as dark and inviting as I remembered.
I stepped closer to him, looking down and then back up to look him right in the eye. I wanted him to believe I was strong and not nervous like I really was. "What about it?"
"Mhm. You could've stayed wi' me." Jamal licked his thick lips, and he leaned yet even closer to me, our noses nearly touching.
"I got you a present." I blurted, and he raised his eyebrows at me.
"Oh yeah, is it you?" He growled lowly and dug his fingers into my hips a little. Jeez, this guy knew what he was doing, but I was trying so fucking hard not to give in. I had forgotten how obsessed I was with this guy last year, and I think I was in danger of falling down the rabbit hole again.
"Mmm you wish!" I pushed his chest playfully and took a step back. He leaned back from impact even though there was no way I could push that guy from how strong he was.
"Boss not sure on this one." Jamal's bouncer called to him, holding out a driving licence to him.
Jamal didn't even look at him, "Busy."
"But I need your opinion," he began.
Jamal's eyes snapped to him, his expression angry. "I said I'm busy!" He growled. Jamal's expression softened again as he turned to me and I pulled a joint out from my cigarette box. His eyes lit up and he smirked at me again. "Mm what'd I do to deserve you?"
I handed Jamal the joint which he tucked behind his ear casually and pulled me into him. My body was literally leaning all my weight onto him, and we were flirting like nothing has ever changed, no summer apart, no arguments, no promise to myself that I wouldn't go back. Nothing.
"Come smoke this wi' me when you're done wi' tonight." He commanded. I nodded, already sucked back in to the world of Jamal. He reached out and gently stroked a stray curl back from my face and then nodded towards the door, "go on then gorgeous." He said like he was giving me his permission to leave him, and gave me a look with his dark brown eyes.
I bit my lip.
As I walked up through the entrance, a little flustered, the stamp girl tried to stop me to get me to pay for my entry but Jamal shook his head at her and she stepped back shyly.
I was met immediately with a crowd of students all in either outrageous costumes or wearing hardly anything, even though it was already autumn and we weren't far from the coast. It was pretty cold. I couldn't see anyone.
