As the moon rose high over the Kingdom of Illea, casting a silver glow over the land, anticipation hung in the air. The day had arrived for Marvin, the beloved TV host, to announce the Selection—an event that would see young women from across the kingdom compete for the heart of Prince Jason.

Amelia sat at the worn wooden table in their cozy cottage, her fingers absentmindedly tracing the outline of a flower drawn by her little brother, Oliver. The cheerful sounds of the village celebrations echoed outside, and she could feel the excitement building as families prepared for the grand announcement. Though she could hear the laughter and chatter, a small part of her felt distant from the revelry.

"Amelia! Come quick!" her mother called from the other room, her voice brimming with enthusiasm. "Marvin is about to announce the Selection on the television!"

Amelia wiped her hands on her apron and rushed to the living room, her heart racing with curiosity. She squeezed in beside Oliver, who sat cross-legged on the floor, his eyes wide with anticipation. The flickering screen filled the room as Marvin appeared, his signature smile lighting up the screen.

"Ladies and gentlemen of Illea, welcome! Today marks a momentous occasion as we unveil the Selection!" Marvin's voice boomed, electrifying the atmosphere. "Fifteen young women from various backgrounds will soon be competing for the affections of our charming Prince Jason, and tomorrow, the letters will be sent out inviting those interested to fill out the forms for this exciting opportunity!"

The announcement filled the room with a wave of enthusiasm. Villagers gathered in their homes, excitement evident in their cheers and gasps. As the camera panned to the excited crowd, Amelia's heart sank slightly. While many viewed the Selection as an opportunity to fulfill their dreams of becoming a princess, she felt a twinge of concern for the prince himself.

Marvin continued, "These young ladies will showcase their talents, intelligence, and grace as they vie for a chance to win not just the prince's heart but also the admiration of the entire kingdom!"

As her mother clapped her hands with delight, Amelia's mind wandered. She thought of the prince, standing in the spotlight, surrounded by eager contenders. Would he feel overwhelmed by the expectations? Would he be able to see past the glitz and glamour to find someone who understood him?

"Amelia, aren't you excited?" her mother asked, turning to her with a smile. "Imagine the opportunity to be part of such an important event! This could change everything for you!"

"I suppose," Amelia replied, her voice soft. "But I can't help but think about how lonely the prince might feel, surrounded by so many women who may only see a title and not the man behind it."

Oliver leaned in, sensing his sister's unease. "Do you think he wants to find a princess?" he asked innocently.

Amelia smiled at her brother, appreciating his innocent curiosity. "I think he might want something more—someone who truly sees him and loves him for who he is, not just because he's a prince."

As the announcement wrapped up, Marvin concluded, "Tomorrow, the letters will be sent out to those interested in the Selection! Prepare for an adventure like no other, as we search for our future queen!"

As the screen faded to black, Amelia felt a mixture of excitement and apprehension. The idea of competing for the heart of a prince was thrilling, yet it felt daunting. Would she even be considered worthy of such a title?

As the evening wore on, Amelia couldn't shake the thought of the prince standing alone in the grand palace, carrying the weight of the kingdom on his shoulders. She wondered what kind of man he was—if he, too, felt the pressure of expectation and longing for genuine connection.

With her heart full of hope and concern, she resolved to keep her eyes open as the Selection unfolded, ready to witness the journey ahead. Little did she know, destiny had woven their fates together, and the path to love and understanding was about to begin in ways neither of them could have ever imagined.
