Rooster and Hangman were up next. Rooster wanted to get back at Maverick for what he did to him at the Academy. Wolf Agreed that Maverick should fly this one.

Hangman: say Rooster, man if I ask you a personal question? he began to dig his nose into Bradley's history with Maverick and their relationship.

Rooster: would it matter if I didn't? he said as in his way of saying what do you want?

Hangman: what's the story with you and Maverick? sounds like he's got you all rattled or something he said.

Rooster: that's none of your business, he dismissed his question. now where the hell is he? he was looking around for Maverick, unknown to him he was underneath them on their tail.

Maverick: been here the whole time he went inverted over Rooster who glared at him through his canopy

Hangman: holy shit, he watched them rattle with each other not knowing what to do about it.

Maverick: you see me now? he taunted him, come on let's get it over with he challenged him.

Rooster panted finally getting the chance he always wanted since day one.

Rooster: fight's on!

they roll inverted performing the cobra.

Rooster was still doing the push-ups beyond the 200 limit punishing himself for failing to shoot down Maverick, he blew it.

Hondo: Rooster that's enough he tried to stop him but no luck, Rooster that's enough man he told him again. but he ignored him and continued he walked away not bothering to stop him.

Rooster panting his arms ached and sat down done enough of it and raised his legs up and arms on them.

Phoenix walked up to him wanting to know what's going on.

Phoenix: breaking the hard deck, insubordination are you trying to get kicked out she confronted him.

Rooster: don't worry about it he dismissed her not wanting her to know his history with the Captains and their instructors.

Phoenix: look I'm going on this mission, but if you get kicked out you leave us flying with Hangman, talk to me what the hell was that? she asked again.

Rooster: he pulled my papers he said softly revealing his secret.

Phoenix: what? she was confused about what he just said who?

Rooster: Maverick, he pulled my Application Papers to the Naval Academy, set me back 4 years he looked at her. Wolf was the only one who knew and I blamed him for it damaging our friendship and we haven't spoken for years until know and I was wrong about him he had nothing to do with it but I refused to reach out to him.

Phoenix stared at him processing this information, she had no idea what happened.

Phoenix: why would he do that? she asked him.

he didn't answer, just silence he wished he knew. but deep down Wolf didn't stop his Father from doing what he did, it wasn't his place.

in Cyclone's office, Maverick was being Reprimanded for his actions in that stunt he pulled with Rooster, Wolf stood beside him both standing in attention.

Cyclone: the hard deck was 5,000 feet above ground level, our perimeters were set not just for the safety of our pilots but for the safety of their aircraft. he raised his voice 5,000 feet is not just a role it is a law as immutable as gravity he spoke with his authority.

Maverick: the hard deck will be much lower for the mission sir, he flinched when Cyclone shouted at him.

Cyclone: and it will not change without my approval, especially not in the middle of an exercise. and that cobra maneuver of yours it could've gotten all three of you killed I never wanna see that shit again. he told him.

Warlock: what exactly supposedly you were teaching them Captains? he matched the Air Boss's voice.

Wolf: as good as they are sir, they still have something to learn he said to the Admiral, Maverick nodded in agreement with his son knowing they're on the same page.

Maverick: Precisely sir.

Cyclone: you're talking about the best Fighter Pilots on the Planet Captains, Argued with them.

Wolf: we're aware of that Admiral he matched his tone, they have been told that their entire careers while they have been dropping bombs from high altitude providing Close Air Support for Navy SEALS and Army Troops Infantry, and Special Forces Operators but no dogfighting unless you want to cause an international incident or worse Start a War. he pointed out knowing there having been any dogfights for years without any incidents and it's the end of the dogfight era and he and his Father intend to bring it back with the next generation of Navy Fighter Pilots new generation of Dogfights.

Maverick: the perimeters of this mission call for something they never encountered he agreed with him backing him up.

Cyclone leaned in his chair.

Cyclone: okay you have less than three weeks, to teach them how to fight as a team and how to strike the target he told them.

Maverick: and how to come home he spoke too soon.

Cyclone looked at him and raised his eyebrows Ridiculously.

Maverick: and how to come home sir. he said again

Cyclone: leaned back in his chair.

Cyclone: every mission has its risk, these pilots except that he said softly.

Wolf: we don't sir he said sarcastically.

Cyclone and Warlock glanced at each other not a word.

Cyclone got to the point.

Cyclone: every morning from this day forward, you both will brief us on your instructional plans in writing and nothing will change without my express approval.

Maverick: including the hard deck Sir? he asked him.

Cyclone especially the hard deck, Captains.

Maverick laid down a folder on his desk.

Maverick: sir he stood back at attention.

Cyclone pointed his finger at it.

Cyclone: what is this?

Maverick: its a request to lower the hard deck, sir to practice a low-level bombing run per the mission perimeters he explained.

Wolf smirked at the idea.

Warlock hid his smile behind his hand.

they were dismissed for the Admiral to have some time for himself to think about it.

Warlock: you could learn a thing or two about timing Captains he told them.
