Y/N POV

After making it back to Hermione, Ron and Harry I was told about the dementor also attacking Harry and then him fainting. I didn't know if I should mention my encounter with one because I didn't want to scare them.

The train finally came to a halt and we started to get our things ready to exit onto the platform. Since I would be sorted before the first years I was able to walk along with the rest of the third years. As we got closer to the castle I could only see the dark outline of it in the night sky. There were yellow flickering lights spread throughout the castle walls that shone just enough for me to see some of the details in the walls.

It was beautiful. I was looking up mesmerized by the sight.

"Well what do you think?" Harry asked with a smile

"I think it's amazing. It's so different than  Ilvermorny but I think I could get use to this." I smiled and Harry continued talking to Ron. I just hoped I fit in here. I lowered my head to the path we were walking on. Eventually we reached a set of stairs where I was to wait to meet Albus. I stood by a column and waited as students walked by. Some gave me hateful looks while some smiled and waved.

I saw as the girl from the train started walking towards me. I was hoping she wouldn't notice me but of course she did.

"Well well. Look what we have here." She said as she walked up with a couple of her friends and stood in front of me.

Not wanting to cause a scene I just smiled and stuck out my hand to introduce myself. " Hi, I'm Y/N P-"

She just me off and pushed my hand down. "I don't care who you are. What I care about is you apologizing to my Dracey for running into him."

Forgetting that I had ran into anyone it quickly came back to my mind. "Oh right, of course. I'll apologize" I smiled still trying to avoid the confrontation but starting to get annoyed.

Just as the girl began to speak again my blonde headed friend and a few other people he was walking with started up the stairs. The girls hair whipped around and she ran over grabbing his arm and pulling him to where I was.

"Dracey look, I'm making this stupid girl apologize for running into you." She smiled and giggled trying to bat her eyes at him.

"Dracey? I thought your name was Draco?" I said meeting his eyes

"Only I call him Dracey" she said taking a step towards me and using her hand to push my shoulder back.

I looked at her with rage starting to build in my chest. I took a deep breath and looked over at Draco who was obviously shocked.

I forced a smile on my face anyways."Draco I am so sorry for running into you. Twice."

"Twice?" Pansy yelled. "What do you mean twice?" She used her arm and pushed me again. This time I grabbed her arm and pulled her into me.

"Look. I apologized like you wanted. You don't know me. I don't know you. Let's leave it at that because it's my first day and I don't really feel like doing this right now. Okay?" I smiled and let go of arm.

She looked at me and scoffed. She was about to saw something when Draco spoke up.

"Pansy." He snapped. "You heard her. She apologized. Now leave her alone." He look at her sternly. She made a pouty and at him and she walked away with her friends following closely behind her.

"Not mean enough to be in Slytherin huh?" He joked crossing his arms.

"I don't like to be like that. Who is that girl anyways?" I asked turning to see her still walking towards the entrance looking back at us occasionally.

"Pansy Parkinson. She's a family friend." He sighed

"I see." There was a brief moment of silence. "I really am sorry about bumping into you." I turned towards him.

"It's okay really. Pansy is just a little.."

"Possessive? Crazy?" I cut him off.

"Exactly" he laughed. "Just don't let her get to you."

"I've seen worse" I joked.

Albus appeared at the entrance and began to make his way over to where I was standing with Draco. "Are you ready?" He asked. I nodded my head and started to walk towards him.

"Mr.Malfoy, shouldn't you be getting in there?" He added.

I turned quickly back at Draco. "You're Malfoy?"

"Draco Malfoy yes" he said looking confused at my question.

Albus called out to me from where he had reach. "Come on Miss Potter. The others are waiting."

"Potter?" Draco said with his eyes widening

We held each other's eyes for a moment before I finally broke away to catch up with Albus. There were a few thoughts running through my head now. Some about Draco. Some about being sorted. After meeting and having conversations with him, Draco didn't seem to be what the trio was making him out to be. At least not to be anyways.

I walked into the great hall and all the eyes were on me. I looked as people were whispering to one another. My eyes finally landed on Harry he was smiling and giving me a thumbs up which made me feel a little better. I finally reached the wooden stool at the front of the hall. Behind it was a table full of teachers.

I sat down on the stool trying not to seem nervous. A professor placed an old brown hat on my head. It started to move and speak. I wasn't sure if anyone else could hear it but I looked out and everyone was watching.

"Very interesting. There's intelligence a lot of it. You have wit. And ohhh the bravery. You are loyal to the very end. Friendly and loving, but there's an uneven balance. You have a lot of ambition and resourcefulness. Cunning to no end. I know.
Slytherin!" The hat yelled.

A table on the end erupted in cheers! I looked around and Harry looked upset along with Hermione and Ron. I thought maybe I had done something wrong. The hat was taken off my arm and I walked over to the table. I was greeted with lots of handshakes and people congratulating me. It felt nice to be invited in like I was. I looked down the table and noticed a fuming Pansy which only made me chuckle. I was a little surprised that the hat put me in Slytherin because I was told they were all mean, conniving bullies but now that I was placed here there no way that could be true. I would never bully or even hurt anyone unless I had to.

After the cheering finally stopped I was able to look back over to my brother and his friends. They wouldn't look at me at all. Eventually I gave up and just brought my attention to the speech that Albus was giving after the ceremony.

Eventually a feast appeared in front of us and everyone began eating. I followed everyone's lead but kept looking up to Harry. I started to get concerned at this point.
