Y/N POVI walked from the common room down the hall not really sure where I was going. I wasn't expecting to hear what I had but I guess it's better that I heard it now than later.
Harry was right about Draco after all, but it is still sad because he seemed so nice. Now I'm back to zero friends. Harry being mad at me for being placed in Slytherin. I guess my first day could've went worse but it was still pretty damn bad.
I made my way to a door with a plaque on the side that read 'Astronomy Tower'. I looked around the hall making sure I was alone before opening the door and stepping inside. I looked up seeing a large spiral stair case. I walked up the stairs running my fingers along the cold rough stone.
I made my way to the top and there was a large open room. I walked in and the only light that was shining came from the moon. There was a large open window that looked out over then black lake and the forbidden forest.
With it being night time everything looked a shade of black. But the way the moon reflected off the lake. It was captivating. I sat down on the ledge, my feet hanging off. I guess this school wasn't so bad. The views were spectacular. There was nothing like this back at my old school.
A few minutes had passed when I heard footsteps behind me. I quickly turned hoping I wasn't getting caught by a teacher. To my surprise it was Draco. I let my face go emotionless before turning back to ignore him and admire the view. The last thing I wanted right now was to talk to him.
He walked over and sat beside me letting out a big sigh. "Look. I feel really bad about what I said. The guys were joking about me liking you and I didn't want them to think I did because they never would have left either one of us alone about it and eventually it would have gotten back to my father and I... I got a little carried away with trying to prove that they were wrong. I know it's no excuse." He looked from the sky to my face.
I noticed and turned to look at him as well. We stared at one another for a few moments. I'm not sure why he did but I was caught by the stars reflecting in his icy grey eyes.
"Are we okay?" He asked concernedly
I looked down at his lips for a moment before looking back up to his eyes and then immediately turned back to look at the stars that were previously in his eyes. I cleared my throat and answered. "Yeah. I get it. You have a reputation to uphold and I'm not going to mess that up for you."
He continued to look at me for a few seconds before looking out at the same sky I was watching. Neither one of us said another word. We just looked out, enjoying the silence, the stillness of the view in front of us.
It felt like hours had passed when he finally broke the silence. "Let's head to bed. The first day of classes is always the longest. You'll want to get up early to make sure you don't get lost." He said standing.
I looked up at him and he offered his hand and assistant up. I grabbed his hand and he pulled and I stood up making me loose my balance slightly. He wrapped his arms around my torso helping me regain my balance.
Draco stood a little taller than me but I hadn't seemed to notice until now, mostly because he had pulled me close in the pursuit of not letting me fall. I was looking up while he was looking down. Both of our breath hitched in the back of our throats as we stared at one another. I watched his eyes move down to my lips. We both started to move a bit closer. It wasn't until I looked down suddenly and took a step back that we realized what had just happened.
"Let's uhh... let's head back. I wouldn't want anyone to see us and ruin that reputation of yours" I joked nervously and began to walk by him taking my hand that was on his arm away. He stood for a moment watching me walk towards the stairs. "You coming?" I added trying to get him to follow. Mostly because I didn't know how to get back to the common room and I didn't want to run into Filch along the way.
We walked in silence on the way back to the common room. Neither one of us wanting to break the awkward silence this time.
DRACO'S POV
Shit. That's all I keep thinking.
Shit.
Shit.
Shit.
I'm a bloody idiot.
We walked into the common room after making it back without being caught. Not like it would have mattered anyways, I frequently make nightly trips to the astronomy tower. But I definitely didn't expect for her to be there.
We both started walking in the directions of our dormitories.
"Draco" I heard her whisper making me stop in my tracks and turn around quickly.
"I'm sorry about tonight. I'll make sure it doesn't happened again. And I hope that we can at least be friends. Even if it is just in secret." She whispered with a slight smile.
I smiled back and nodded in agreement and then watched as she walked out of sight. I did the same and went to my dorm. My father being my father I was able to get a single room dorm meaning I didn't have to share with anyone else.
I opened the door and laid on my bed loosening my tie with one hand. Images of y/n flashed in my head, the way the moonlight was shining on her skin. I put my hands on my head and ran them through my hair it was going to be a long year.
I knew I needed to remain cold towards her so no one got any ideas but I also wanted to be her friend. She literally jumped in front of a dementor for me. She forgave me for the things I had said. No one in my entire life, not even my family has done something like that.
I stood up and began to take off my uniform piece by piece until I was down to just my boxers. I crawled back into bed sliding under the covers. I laid on my back staring up at the ceiling. It took hours for me finally to fall asleep but when I finally did I slept so well being back in my bed at Hogwarts.
Y/N POV
I walked into my room where the other 3 girls were sleeping. I wasn't quite sure who I was rooming with yet because I hadn't gotten to meet the earlier. I tiptoed to an empty bed and laid down looking up at the ceiling. I started to smile when I was interrupted by a voice.
"Don't you dare think for one second that Draco would actually ever have something to do with you. You're just a filthy blood traitor and a bloody Potter for Gods sake." Pansy said disgustedly.
"Look Pansy. Maybe we got off on the wrong foot. We share a room and I'm in your house. Don't you think we should at least try to get along?" I asked sitting up looking at her.
"No. At the end of the day you will never be a true Slytherin." She spat.
"Okay Pansy. Well I will be going to bed now." I added defeatedly. I changed into my shorts and new Slytherin shirt. I laid in my bed looking at the ceiling. Harry thinks I'm evil. Draco is confusing. Pansy is plotting ways to kill me over there.
It's going to be a long year.
