Voidclaw looks around. It's nighttime. He looks to his right. Salmonfrost isn't there. He panics. He searches for her. She is nowhere to be found. „Sal-!" Salmonfrost he wanted to shout, but he hears a cat, around 2 fox lengths behind him.
„Shh. She is right there, guarding the cave entrance." the cat says.
He is dreaming.
Voidclaw turns around. The cat is transparent. It's someone from Starclan. He takes another look. Dark grey fur, a deep scar on the side.
„Cinderscar!" his voice breaks, and a wave of emotions overflows him. Cinderscar doesn't say anything, just smiles. Voidclaw goes up to him and gives him a headbutt. Cinderscar nestles to Voiclaw. „It's okay." he says. „You couldn't loose a friend. I understand that."
Voidclaw feels guilty, angry, relieved, exhausted and sad, all at the same time. „He is not my friend anymore." He says. Cinderscar listens.
"I miss you."he adds, with a strangled voice.
„I know. But Froststar did a great job choosing you as my successor." Cinderscar says, with a wink.
Voidclaw withdraws from Cinderscar and smiles.
„Why did you come to me?" he finally asks.
Cinderscar's face gets serious.
„We need to talk to you. I will show you the way to the moonstone. Follow me." he says.
Voidclaw tilts his head, confused.
„There is nothing to talk about."
Cinderscar looked away, like he is trying to hide something. „Yes there is. You will find out soon enough. Follow me." he repeats.
Voidclaw is unsure. He doesn't want to leave Salmonfrost alone. Also, Froststar will have a new reason to expel him. But that urge to go... and he trusts Cincerscar. If he says it's important, then it is important.
He gives himself a push and follows Cinderscar.
As soon as he takes a step into the cave, it's like all light vanished. He can barely see anything. As he follows the sound of Cinderscars paws, trotting trough the tunnels, he realizes it gets colder, and the tunnels get tighter. He remembers his first time in the tunnels. They were just as tight back then, but of course he had more space then, because he was just an apprentice.
"Cinderscar, are you sure this is the right way?" He asks.
"I would say I know the way to my clanmates." Cinderscar hisses playfully. Voidclaw laughs. Alive or dead, Cinderscar has not lost his humor.
Suddenly, Cinderscar stops, and Voidclaw runs into him. A suffocated "oof" escapes Cinderscar, before he laughs loud, uncontrollably. Voidclaw awkwardly laughs with him, not knowing what is so funny. As he looks around Cinderscar, he gasps.
It's the moonstone. The beautiful moonstone, shining brighter than the moon. Frostststar is lying on the ground, sleeping, her chest peacefully raising and lowering. Pidgenpaw lies next to her, in a circle, and next to him there lay Bamboospark and Firewing. Voidclaw smiles at them. "They all look so peaceful" he says to Cinderscar.
But he doesn't get an answer.
Concerned, he looks around. "Cinderscar?"
Cinderscar is still there, but so see through, that he is almost invisible.
"Cinderscar! No! Don't leave me!" Voidclaw wines.
He just smiles and says: "I am not. Talk to us, my friend."
After a last look at the Moonstone he disappears.
"No!" Void claw yowls. But Cinderscar is already gone.
He turns around and looks at the Moonstone. It was strictly against the warriors code for cats not the leader or medicine cat to talk with Starclan cats trough the moonstone. A consequence for that would be an expelling.
But only if she catches me doing it. Voidclaw thinks, with a look at Froststar.
Then, he Stepps forward, his nose touching the moonstone.
What is it, Cinderscar? What is so important that I have to break the warriors code? He asks himself, before lying down to sleep.
As he waked up, he is in a forest, with cliffs guarding them, and everywhere are Starclan cats.
I am dreaming.
He looks around ,trying to recognize cats.
There was Cinderscar! And there, Haselstar, his old leader! Birchfall, his father! And there...
Why is there Salmonfrost?
He looks at her, confused.
She shakes her head, her tail flicking, a gesture saying: Not now.
Suddenly, all sounds of the dreamlike forest disappear. Only his heartbeat and a strong wind stay.
Suddenly, a cat steps forward to him. It's Haselstar.
The tall, light brown cat sits down In front of him, his fluffy tail flicking..
But his face doesn't show happiness at all.
He looks miserable and... scared.
Voidclaw wants to ask him what it is, but the wind takes away his voice.
Haselstar lowers his head regretfully.
Then, his big, sad eyes stare into his soul and the following words coming out of his mouth make everything spin, all sounds stop, and Voidclaw freeze.
"I, Hazelstar, Leader of Cliffclan when Froststar was just a warrior, welcome you, Voidclaw, to receive your New name and nine lives.
Voidstar, I give you a life for revenge...
