Ch. 6

     When we finally made it home the sun was about to rise so us disassembly drones had to stay in the bunker for the day, much to Kahn's displeasure. Uzi immediately dragged us to her place and locked us in her room. "Nice place Zi." I said looking around her room and she playfully waved me off "Bite me." V snickered as she noticed a bunch of anime and manga collected on a shelf. "About as nerdy as I expected." Uzi huffed and spun around to face her desk. "Says you." I said mischievously grinning at V. "Perhaps you'd like to share with the class how you looked before this." I gestured to her newer body. Her eyes hollowed out and she scoffed at me while crossing her arms. "I have no idea what you're talking about." N, not realizing I was teasing her, pipped up with a big smile on his face. "Oh yea! From that one memory you had to wear glasses! They looked so cute on you!" V's visor exploded into a blush and Uzi spun around with a grin on her face. "Glasses you say?" She tapped her fingers together with a devious grin. "Shut up! They were not cute! They were....they were...." She trailed off as her eyes began to glitch and a big flashing X came across her screen as she fell over. I managed to catch her only to her Uzi grunt behind me turning to see her catching N. "What the fuck?!" I squeaked as we laid them next to each other. I stood away as an error code 606 flashed along with the X. "Shit, I'll look into their code to see what's happening, sit down in case you crash too." Uzi commands. I nodded and sat down on her bed, feeling a few of my systems shut down slowly. I tried to call to Uzi but nothing came out as my voice box had shut down with it. I thought I was about to go under when I felt a shock go through my entire body. "Holy fucking ow!" I yelled as I stood up. Uzi jumped in her chair and swiveled towards me with a panicked look. "What?! What happened?!" I looked at my hand as the charge still had it twitching, "I was crashing like the other two when the auxiliary core shocked me." I started to fade after saying that only to be shocked again. "Ow fuck!" I squawked as I fell back onto Uzi's bed. "M-Maybe you should just like, shut off the other core? Crash like these two and I can fix all three of you at once." The suggestion was the best bet, and I knew that but, the anxiety I had if shutting down the auxiliary core and letting whatever was fucking with us do whatever made me freeze. "I-I don't..." I held myself tight to try and stop the shaking. "Cait please let me help you." I looked anywhere other than her face and gripped my arms tighter "I can't! Fuck I'm so scared right now Zi! I feel like I won't be able to come back if I turn off the only thing keeping what I'm pretty sure is the Absolute Solver in check." I started to cry softly "there's this part of me that knows whatever I'll learn in those memories scarred me. It scarred me so badly I'm terrified at just the thought of remembering! I don't know if I can do it..." another crash another shock. I didn't react this time and just started to cry harder, Uzi grabbed me by the face and forced me to look at her. "Cait. I know you're scared, fuck so am I. But you said whatever happens we'd deal with it together and that's the plan. I'm not going to let you get stuck in your own memories, I'm not going to let the solver screw us over anymore. So even if you can't trust yourself right now, trust me." She gently put her head against mine and we closed our eyes and slowly I started to calm myself "Okay..." I said with hoarse voice, "I trust you Uzi. Always." She nodded and hugged me tight before laying me in between N and V and leaning them against me. I shut off my auxiliary core and gave Uzi a weak smile before crashing into my own memories.

"Caitlynn!" J whisper-yelled, causing me to jump in my seat. "What? Huh?" I blinked and looked at her. "Geez C, you even hear a word I said?" I shook my head and rubbed my face "Sorry, must've zoned pretty hard." She sighed and shook her head "Like I said, with the Gala coming up we're gonna need you to keep a closer eye on Cyn. She likes you and N the most, so you two are on babysitting duty since you refuse to let us lock her back up." I shot her a glare. "Don't say that like it's a bad thing, Cyn is special to me and I won't be made to feel bad about keeping her safe." I noticed N walk in with Cyn behind him. "Speaking of..." I said as I got up and walked towards my two siblings. "Hey you two!" I said letting my work facade slip away. The two younger drones perked up having seen me, the preparation for the gala has kept us from interacting much these last few weeks. I hugged them both and pet Cyn's head, "What are you doing here? I thought you were on library duty. You love library duty." N gave me a salute "Library is clean as a whistle Cait! Cyn just wants to ask Tess something." I motioned for him to quiet down. "Shhh! You know Mistress Louisa doesn't like hearing our actual names." I glanced back at the wicked old woman but she was too busy scolding a drone to notice us. "Sorry C...I just like our names a lot... Makes me feel like we actually matter." I hugged him tight and grabbed both of their hands. "It's okay Noah, come on Cynny let's ask Tess your question yea?" I whispered his name to make him feel better and Cyn grabbed my arm and hid like she was with N. "I am excited to see you Big sister C. It has been boring without you." I smiled at her as we made it back to Tess and J.
