Yeonjun's POV

I sat beneath the shade of the red maple tree, its leaves rustling softly in the gentle breeze. I couldn't help but reminisce about the countless times I'd been here with Beomgyu, our laughter and carefree spirits filling the air.

It's been 1 year since I last saw beomgyu.

I sat, lost in thought, my mind replaying all the moments I had shared with Beomgyu at this very spot. We used to come here a lot. This was our spot. The memories were bittersweet, each one a reminder of what used to be and what I had lost. I glanced around, half expecting to see him walking towards me, his face breaking into a wide smile at the sight of me. But of course, he didn't appear.

I sighed, a pang of longing stabbing my heart. It had been a year since we had parted ways, and yet, the ache in my chest felt as fresh and raw as ever. I couldn't help but wonder if Beomgyu was thinking of me too, if he ever missed our time together as much as I did. I reached up to touch my own cheek, the tips of my fingers making contact with the slightly damp skin. It surprised me to feel the residual traces of tears on my face. I must have been subconsciously crying, the memories stirring up an emotional storm within me.

I cry a lot since beomgyu went away, I miss his smile, I miss his laughter, I miss the way his eyes sparkled with joy when he saw me, I miss those lips, I miss those hugs, I miss his warmth, i...miss him. I miss him a lot.

As I was lost in my thoughts, my mind drifted to a memory from when we were sitting at the exact same spot where I am sitting right now.

__________

The maple tree's branches swayed gently in the breeze, casting dappled shadows on the ground below. Beomgyu's head was lying on my lap beneath the tree, the grass cool and soft beneath us. We talked about everything and nothing, laughed at silly jokes, and simply enjoyed each other's company. Time seemed to stand still under that tree, and we were lost in our own little world, just the two of us and the whispering leaves above.

The sun was beginning to set, casting golden rays through the tree's branches and bathing us in a warm glow. We watched as the sky bled into shades of pink and orange, a beautiful canvas painting the end of another day.

But I wasn't focused on the sky. Instead, my gaze was on Beomgyu, his face illuminated by the fading light. His eyes were closed, a small smile playing at his lips. In that moment, he looked so peaceful, so content. I wanted to freeze time and stay there forever.

Beomgyu's head was resting on my lap, and I was absentmindedly running my fingers through his hair, enjoying the feel of the silky strands. Suddenly, Beomgyu spoke up. "I've been thinking about cutting my hair short," he said.
I paused for a moment, my hands still playing with his locks. "You can do whatever you want with your hair," I said gently. "But you know I like it long." Beomgyu chuckled softly. "You like my hair that much, huh?" he teased, looking up at me with a smile.
I felt my cheeks flush slightly. "Yeah," I replied, resuming my gentle stroking. "It's soft. Plus, it looks good the way it is."
Beomgyu's smile widened. "Is that the only reason you like it?" he asked, his eyes dancing with mischief. I felt my heart skip a beat as I looked down at Beomgyu, his head still resting in my lap. "That's not the only reason," I said, my voice soft and quiet. "It's just... I like running my fingers through your hair. It's... calming."
Beomgyu's smile softened, and he closed his eyes, enjoying the feeling of my fingers carding through his hair. I continued to run my hands through Beomgyu's hair, the repetitive motion soothing. I watched his face, his eyes closed and his mouth relaxed, a look of contentment on his face. Time seemed to still beneath the maple tree, and it felt like we were the only two people in the world.
