A/n: Hope you all enjoy my first anime character x reader! Figured I should start with the bae Rin Matsuoka! Warning! You snuggled you're head into the crook of Rin's shoulder, the smell of chlorine still on him. His fingers mindlessly played with the locks of your (H/C) hair. You sighed, the same emptiness bearing down on your heart like a thousand cinder blocks.

You looked up at Rin, his emotionless face un-noticing to your presence, though he fakes the 'loving' caresses of your hair. His face was once full of small, soft smiles when the two of you were together, but that was long ago when you had first started dating. But then again your smiles had disappeared too.

How you wished you could go back in time when you two were still happy. When your relationship wasn't like fighting against a current, knowing that sooner or later you would be dragged under the current and drowned.

You had learned to shape your heart into the perfect loving girlfriend for Rin. Anything to possibly have things to return to how they were. But it only seemed to get worst.

"Hey, Rin?" You said up in question to him.

His red eyes slowly looked down at you, his lips stretched into a soft loving smile. It was forced. It didn't meet his eyes. The corners of his eyes didn't crinkle with the thought of how much he loved you and how lucky he was. His beautiful red eyes didn't glimmer with happiness anymore. They were blank and emotionless, as his mouth was stretched into an elastic smile.

"Yes?"

"What are you like when you're not around me?" You asked innocently, eyes widened in curiosity. Rin's smile faded, but only for a brief second before his lips once again formed his fake, loving smile.

"You're too adorable, (Y/N)," He said in a whisper. You frowned slightly, but kept up the innocent curiosity act. "That's an easy question though. I'm not myself when you're not around. You're the best part of me, (N/N)." Rin then looked away, back towards the tv. You flinched slightly at his words.

More lies; it's always lies, you had thought as your mind replayed old memories you'd rather forget. Memories that were proof of his lies. Proof that he wasn't himself when you were around. He is only himself with out you.

One day you had decided to visit Rin after school at his swim practice to suprise him. He hadn't been smiling lately and you'd felt it was your fault, well it actually was. You'd gotten mad at Rin for making fun of your (mild insecurity), so you started ignoring him. You even had a present for him, it was a beaded bracelet with a little shark charm, you had a matching one, except on yours there was a (F/A).

You skipped happily down the sidewalk of Samezuka, present in hand, smiling like an idiot. You peeked into a window, searching for your boyfriend. Your eyes widened when you saw him.

He was smiling.

An actual full hearted smile.

Something you hadn't seen for a month now.
